High Performance Medical Solutions (HPMS) is a global contract manufacturer for OEMs. We specialize in manufacturing medical tubing, cable and assemblies which are mission-critical components in the surgical, vascular, endoscopy, ultrasound and robotics device markets. Our global factories for cable and assemblies and our US based ISO Class 8 and Class 9 cleanrooms provide over 30,000 ft2 of cleanroom space allowing us to offer robust in-house solutions such as turnkey secondary operations like tipping, printing, punching, sub-assembly for catheters, plus device kitting.
Position Summary
The Director of Outside Medical Sales will work with assigned OEM partners and subcontractors to grow and expand the current revenue and expand relationships, as well as collaborating with the larger medical device community to identify and cultivate new business. Domestic and international travel is required throughout the year. Estimated annual travel may be up to 50%. This job qualifies for remote working status, in which case a home office may be the primary working environment.

- Conduct full cycle consultative sales including prospecting, scheduling visits and attending meetings through successful production shipments
- Strengthen relationships with existing customers with a focus on high performance cable and assembly opportunities. In addition,
- Cross sell our extrusion based products by identifying opportunities to provide extrusions, secondary operations and value-added services to those customers
- Visit current and prospective customers and attend trade shows, regional and national industry specific conventions, symposia, conferences and other events as necessary
- Build and maintain a network of sources from which to identify new sales leads
- Vet leads to identify and understand their product or service needs; propose products and services offered to meet those needs
- Ensure customer satisfaction through ongoing communication and superior relationship management
- Maintain communication with existing and previous customers, alerting them of new manufacturing capabilities, services, and enhancements that may be of interest
- Maintain detailed reports of sales activities including calls, orders, sales, lost business, and any customer or vendor relationship problems
- Identify and communicate gaps in product offering to engineering with the goal of developing a product solution
- Provide strategic forecasting for customer accounts
- Develop, forecast, and execute monthly, quarterly, and annual sales production, growth, and profit goals
- Review quarterly achievements, goals, and strategy with the COO / VP of Sales
- Resolve customer challenges or disputes when escalation is necessary
- Be aware of, and report sales trends, challenges, and issues within the region immediately to the SVP of Sales
- Must be able to travel to meet customers
- Obey all safety rules, use caution in work activities, and continuously practice safe behaviors
- Immediately report unsafe conditions/behaviors and work-related injuries to site supervision
Qualifications
Required
- 7 years of medical sales/business development management experience
- Bachelor’s degree
- Full understanding of the components and assembly processes used by target customers for several medical devices.
- Strong understanding of the sales cycle for components and subassemblies in medical devices.
- Working knowledge of cable and assemblies used in several types of medical devices
- Technical background and/or demonstrated ability to acquire technical knowledge to effectively articulate features and benefits of offered services for non-technical customers
- Ability to rapidly absorb products and services suited to successfully articulate a solutions-based value proposition
- Skilled in negotiating and selling techniques with demonstrated accountability in executing sales plans
- Knowledge of the medical device industry, regulations, market trends, and competition
- Superior leadership skills
- Proven ability to build and execute a sales strategy to generate and develop new business
- Demonstrated experience identifying, maximizing & sustaining relationships with key decision-makers
- Demonstrated experience creating opportunities within strategic accounts
- Competent in CRM software
- Strong verbal and written communication skills; polished presentation skills
- Proficient in using MS Office, Internet, and e-mail
Preferred
- Experience managing complex global accounts
- Successful track record in sales-driven environments
- Experience using an ERP system
