Number of Positions: 1SUMMARY: Responsible for enhancing the delivery of Workforce Investment Activities to Migrant and Seasonal Farmworker Youth by increasing access to program enrollment, education, career services, and vocational training.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1) Conducts program presentations to community partners to help recruit and enroll eligible youth into Proteus’ Department of Labor, National Farmworker Jobs Program (NFJP).
2) Assists youth who are determined not eligible for NFJP services and connects them to other services offered by non-NFJP WIOA Youth Services staff and community partners.
3) Works with staff to connect eligible participants into Proteus’ co-enrollment services that include educational, leadership, internships, volunteer work, mentorships, training, and other workforce development services opportunities.
4) Works with internal Marketing and Communications Department to promote youth services via social media, brand marketing, website design, and youth focused videos to highlight Proteus’ mission.
5) Works with the America’ Job Center of California workforce connection system, state monitor advocate, local high schools, adult schools, community colleges, Department of Migrant Education, and other entities to identify and enroll eligible farmworker youth participants.
6) Conducts youth workshops on various topics that may include financial literacy, student success, career planning, self-esteem and confidence building, and other topics as needed.
7) Works with staff to help recruit youth participants into training, secondary or post-secondary education programs offered at the William M. Maguy School of Education.
8) Contacts employers to assist in the development of job placement, work experience, and internship opportunities for youth participants.
9) The position will require some evening and weekend attendance; preparation of reports; and other duties may be assigned.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: High school graduate or equivalent; and Associate degree in a related field or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or two years of directly-related experience and /or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commission, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving concrete variables in standardized situations.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
Access to transportation, California driver’s license, and minimum auto insurance as required by law.
