Job Title: Project Manager
Salary Position: Minimum 45-hour work week
Standard Work Hours: Monday - Friday
Reports to: Director of Sales and Service
Works closely with: Sales, Finance, Customer, Engineering, Production Control, Purchasing, Inventory Control, Machine Shop, and Assembly
Position Summary: Manager of customer order, from order acknowledgement through final customer commissioning and payment. Coordinates Proto-1 and customer resources in achieving the most cost-effective solution and delivery of orders within the defined scope and schedule.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Develop vision and direction for each project. Taking facts of project needs and developing customer timeline to meet expectations.
- Be the lead on projects to ensure goals and timelines are being met throughout the organization.
- Review any legal documents and customer specifications to ensure that Proto-1 fully understands scope of document. Assure project legal documents and customer specifications are completed and signed.
- Facilitate between engineering, operations, and assembly to ensure projects are on schedule. Engage in weekly meeting to hold all areas accountable for timeline requirements.
- Ensure the correct material is available before the tooling is ready for development
- Minimize exposure and risk on a project while enforcing project standards
- Work with Finance and Sales to determine appropriate revenue recognition, ensure timely and accurate invoicing and monitor receivables for projects
- Work with finance to accurately track revenue.
- Work with sales to develop strong customer relationships so that customer satisfaction is met, and goals of project are clearly defined. Continually seek opportunities to increase customer satisfaction and deepen client relationships
- Set project priorities to ensure deadlines are being met. Work with shop scheduler to ensure ERP systems dates match project timelines.
- Work with customer on change notices to get paid for changes not in the original scope of work.
- Lead over assembly department to ensure the correct jobs are being worked on
- Keep customer informed on time and material scope changes cost and timeline
Assembly Area Responsibilities:
- Assign each employee daily job responsibilities
- Report to management issues concerning timely completion of assignments
- Prepare and complete action item lists
- Monitor employee work throughout the day keeping informed on status on all jobs
- Coordinate and facilitate cross functional teams to problem solve and find solutions to issues that arise through the assembly and tool development process.
- Ensure the work area is kept clean to provide a safe environment
Minimum Qualifications:
- Project management experience in a manufacturing environment required
- Technical knowledge in capital equipment preferred
- Engineering degree preferred
- Certification in Project Management preferred
- General business knowledge (finance, operations, engineering) preferred
- Strong interpersonal skills; excellent written and oral communication skills, ability to interact with all levels of employees, management, and external customers
- Working knowledge of Microsoft project, excel, word, outlook, and internet communication
- Able to travel to customer facilities both domestically and internationally
