Job Summary : The Shop Assistant must be an individual who can adapt to a fast-paced environment with an adherence to on-time delivery of parts. This person should have a strong work ethic, a willingness to learn and ask questions about the manufacturing processes. This person must be flexible and willing to work in multiple departments as demand requires.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :

Grinding and orbital sanding of welded parts
Learn and perform manual deburring operations
Remove tabs, slag, rust, and sharp edges as needed
Learn to use various shop tools such as orbital sanders, timesavers, fladder, belt sanders and hand tools at an entry level
Handle finished items in a careful manner to prevent damage
Mask parts for paint / powder
Wash parts in prep for paint / powder
Clean parts in prep for outside process
Pack and ship parts
Maintain a neat and orderly work area
Function in a safe and reliable manner to prevent personal injury and / or property damage
Perform other duties as assigned
Must be willing and able to wear all required PPE

TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES :

Ability to learn to read blueprints

Ability to learn how to use shop tools

BEHAVIORAL COMPETENCIES :

Demonstrates effective written and verbal communication skills to collaborate with team members

Demonstrates initiative and personal accountability to meet work demands and work effectively under pressure with supervision

Demonstrates teamwork by sharing knowledge and helping where needed

EDUCATION & PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE :

High School diploma or GED required

Experience in manufacturing or prototyping is a plus

Entry level position

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS :

Ability to walk and stand for extended periods of time

Ability to use hands and fingers to operate computers, equipment, hand / power tools, etc. and handle and feel parts of various size

Ability to bend, kneel and crouch occasionally throughout the shift

Ability to push, pull or lift 50 lbs. moderately throughout the workday

Ability to focus vision for : close vision, color vision, depth perception and adjusting to sharp focus

WORK ENVIRONMENT :

Noise conditions can be moderate to extreme. Hearing protection will be provided if needed and / or by request

Exposure to fumes and / or airborne particles

Moving mechanical parts and vibration

Fast-paced environment

WORK HOURS :

5 – 8-hour shifts

Overtime as necessary
