Job Summary
The role of the Senior Project Manager is to support client initiatives in creating prototype and production parts by aligning project requirements with company profitability. This position will have advanced knowledge of prototyping processes to understand client expectations and manage projects with highly technical complexities. This position must also plan, execute, and deliver aerospace and automotive contracts in collaboration with engineering, quality, and operation team members. The success of this position requires the ability to develop strong relationships, communicate effectively, and keep work organized.
Essential Functions
- Serve as clients' main point of contact for prototyping and production needs via email, phone or in person
- Research, question, and understand customer needs to determine project achievability
- Recommend best combination of materials and processes based on project, budget, and timeframe requirements
- Create proposals and bids for aerospace and automotive contract opportunities; collaborate with engineering team to determine costs, technical risks, and competitive pricing points while maximizing profits
- Prepare quotes by studying 2D prints, CAD files, and other documentation; consult with technical personnel to confirm quote specifications as needed
- Create and review dimensional 3D analyses to ensure production parts meet quality standards
- Liaison between customer and operations staff, supporting both the customer and internal operations to determine equally agreed upon solutions that supports the program
- Maintain program schedules and present updates to customers for successful on-time delivery of production contracts
- Guide purchasing through procurement of aerospace components and materials that include a high level of requirements, certifications, and documentation
- Develop work instructions, test plans, and internal procedures for the completion of various projects per the given requirements or the company's needs
- Utilize effective pricing strategies to meet company revenue and profitability goals
- Monitor manufacturing progress, identify the need for issue escalation, recommend alternative solutions
- Evaluate completed projects against predetermined quality standards to ensure customer satisfaction
- Maintain internal systems and project documentation in an organized, electronic manner
- Evaluate third party vendors and coordinate outsourcing needs
- Maintain strong business relationships with key decision makers and influencers within assigned accounts; use networking skills to grow contact portfolio within assigned accounts
- Arrange client visits on/off site as needed to present company services and capabilities and secure business opportunities
- Initiate, support and implement continuous improvement activities; train key personnel as necessary
- Remain highly informed of industry trends, market activities, and industry competitors to gain experience and identify opportunities for company growth
- Attend trade shows and industry events as needed to develop qualified leads and maintain relationships
- Be sought out as an expert to provide advice or solutions in technical areas
- Provide backup support to colleagues as assigned
- Other duties as assigned
Technical Competencies
- Advanced knowledge in project management discipline
- Proficient knowledge of prototyping and manufacturing capabilities
- Proficient knowledge of industry materials, applications and technologies
- Proficient knowledge of reading designs, prints, and other technical drawings/files
- Proficient knowledge of the ISO 9001 and AS9100 standards
- Advanced knowledge of GD&T per ASME Y14.5.

Education and Experience:
- Degree in Business, Manufacturing, Engineering, Design, or related field preferred
- 5 years' experience in project management within the manufacturing industry preferred
- 1 years' experience in project management within Aerospace, Automotive, or Defense required
- 3 years' experience in additive manufacturing preferred
- 3 years' experience in estimating/quoting preferred
Physical Requirements/Work Environment
- Ability to sit for extended periods of time
- Ability to use hands and fingers to operate computer and handle/feel small and large parts
- Ability to focus vision for: close vision, color vision, depth perception and adjusting to sharp focus
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs occasionally throughout work week
- Noise conditions in production areas can be moderate to extreme, PPE required and provided
- Production areas may contain fumes or airborne particles, PPE provided upon request
Work Hours/Travel:
- 1st shift work schedule, Monday - Friday
- Remote work available upon approval and completion of training
- Local travel 10%
