Job Description:
Heat treat specialist specializing in processing many different types of Steel.
Mainly Air Hardening Tool Steel, Steel Alloys, Plain Carbon Steel, and Oil Hardening Tool Steel. Using multiple pieces of equipment such as Vacuum Furnaces, Molten Salt Pot, Controlled Atmosphere Furnace, Fluidized Bed, and Box Furnace.
Workflow:
Typically, a day starts where one will be coding work orders based on customer requirements. An in-depth knowledge of the various processes is required to achieve proper processing of Steel. The work is then sorted by process and equipment. When that is finished the parts begin to be processed. An alloy load separated by tempering temperature ran in a controlled atmosphere furnace, two air hardening loads ran in a vacuum furnace, oil hardening tool steels that are ran out of either a controlled atmosphere furnace or a molten salt pot. Also, there are various processes such as stress relieving, annealing and hardening using a box furnace. During the day there are customer phone calls with questions about heat treat processes or timetables. Finally, the Customer work orders must be sorted and distributed throughout the shop.
Required Skills:
- Operating an overhead crane & driving a forklift
- Ability to read prints and process information
- Lift heavy objects
- Perform basic computer tasks using Microsoft windows
- Multitask
- Work in an industrial environment
- Shift starts at 12:00 PM to 8:30 PM.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with Heat treating various types of Steel such as 8620, 4140, 1045, 1018, D-2, S-7, A-2, H-13, 0-1, etc…
- Experience with Vacuum Furnaces, Controlled Atmosphere Furnaces (Batch), Box Furnace, Molten Salt Pot and Fluidized Bed
- Understanding of AMS specifications and requirements
- Ability to problem-solve incorrectly Heat-treated work to achieve the correct results
- Visually Spark Test Steel
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $18.00 - $23.00 per hour
