Responsibilities
- Patient Care: Conduct thorough evaluations, assessments, and treatment planning for pain management based on scientific evidence and professional guidelines.
- Medical Documentation: Maintain accurate and detailed patient records using the SOAP (Subjective, Objective, Assessment, and Plan) format.
- Diagnostics & Treatment: Order and interpret diagnostic tests such as lab work, radiographs, and EKGs; diagnose and treat acute and chronic pain conditions.
- Medication Management: Prescribe and oversee pain-relieving medications, ensuring patient safety by monitoring adverse drug reactions and adjusting treatment as needed.
- Clinical Supervision: Mentor and supervise Advanced Practice Providers (APPs), nurses, and medical assistants in their daily tasks and patient care activities.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with an interdisciplinary healthcare team, actively contributing to the development of medical protocols and peer review programs.
- Community Engagement: Foster relationships with local healthcare professionals and manage patient referrals when necessary.
- Patient Education: Guide patients on self-management techniques for chronic pain and educate them on treatment plans, pain relief methods, and preventative measures.
- Board Certification: Licensed and Board Certified in Pain Management, Anesthesiology, or Neurology.
- Licensure: Must be in good standing with all State Medical Boards where licenses are held.
- Experience: Prefer candidates with some experience but will consider recent fellowship graduates.
- Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification (Required).
- Procedural Skills: Heavy emphasis on procedures; candidates must be comfortable with medication management.
- Compliance: Must be in good standing with the Office of Inspector General (OIG).
- Education: Graduate of an accredited medical school with ongoing professional development in pain management.
