RN RN Quality Assurance Manager - Washington, DC
Summary:
The Quality Assurance Manager is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) program. The QA Manager in collaboration with the leadership team, develops, implements, interprets and assures compliance with policies and procedures including compliance with federal and District of Columbia regulations and accreditation standards.
Hours: M- F 9am - 5pm
Essential Functions:
I. Quality Assurance/ Utilization:
Responsible for oversight of the clinical compliance activities to assure that Agency is operating within state and federal regulations.
Works collaboratively with clinical leadership and field clinicians to ensure clinical documentation, including but not limited to assessments, re-assessments and visit notes, are complete, accurate, reflects care delivery and meets legal requirements.
Reviews OASIS data collection to assure accuracy and consistency with requirements. Communicates with clinicians and provides training as indicated to achieve compliance with collection and reporting timelines. Reviews Oasis documentation for accuracy and completeness prior to locking and submitting data electronically.
Select and prioritize patient diagnoses and assigns ICD-10 codes to each diagnosis.
II. Performance Improvement Activities:
Implements processes to monitor and evaluate safety, risk management, infection control, and competency programs.
Compiles, trends, reports and makes recommendations based on quality data in the following areas: patient care, safety, risk management, infection control, care outcomes, and client satisfaction.
Reviews all incident and complaint reports for completeness, risk, standard of care determination, and appropriate response and resolution.
Collaborates with clinical leadership to analyze performance improvement trends in the delivery of care. Monitors performance indicators. Responsible for driving performance measures in the Agency.
Collaborates with clinical leadership to ensure effective and efficient episodic management and visit utilization.
III. Staff Performance:
Participate in the initial orientation of the clinical staff regarding relevant requirements for patient care and documentation and provides education on the timeliness of paperwork. Ensures that Agency emergency preparedness plan is communicated to all staff during orientation.
Participates in continuing education of staff. Identifies Agency staff needs relative to skills and specialty areas and coordinates training programs. Assists in identification of skills for competency reviews and provides training support. Coordinates resources for staff in written materials and workshops. Assists in the design of the Agency in-service education plan.
Collaborates with the clinical leadership on clinical staff performance. Provides input to clinical staff performance evaluations.
Educates and mentors clinicians regarding concerns, questions, accuracy of OASIS data, and other related documents.
Qualifications:
Education: Graduate from an Accredited school of nursing; BSN preferred.
Minimum 2 years home care or long-term care experience and Minimum of 2 years Quality Assurance and/or Performance Improvement experience or previous acute care experience preferred.
Experience: Minimum 2 years recent Medicare-certified home health experience with knowledge of Medicare regulations and proficiency with OASIS completion.
License/Certification: RN licensure in good standing in the District of Colombia; current CPR.
Additional Requirements:
Extensive knowledge of Medicaid/ Medicare guidelines.
Extensive knowledge of Oasis protocol.
Strong clinical judgment and critical thinking skills.
Experience with ICD 10 Coding.
Knowledge of quality assurance protocols.
Knowledge of staff development, compliance and the educational process, quality improvement, and safety/risk management standards;
Strong multi-tasking skills and ability to appropriately prioritize work load;
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates, subordinates and representatives from other agencies;
Proficiency with computer-based patient database systems.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
Demonstrated ability to plan, coordinate, and evaluate PI activities.
Knowledge of healthcare claims processing practices in a LTC setting.
Preferred, Strong homecare scheduling experience with an understanding of staffing and scheduling requirements related to home care.
