Job Position: Fulltime Medical Receptionist
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Schedules patient visits and procedures in EMR, along with pertinent information.
- Communicate in a pleasant and expeditious manner. Takes and convey messages to correct parties. Transfers calls as needed. Keep detailed documentation.
- Completes necessary paperwork for registration, use EMR system to generate necessary information for procedures.
- Ensure correct charts, files and appropriate paperwork are prepped for daily needs.
- Greet patients, vendors and visitors in a friendly and professional manner. Check-in patients, answer questions and direct guests as needed.
- Maintain various logs of daily activities including cancelled appointments, add-ons, and monthly tallies needed
- Maintain office supplies and forms
- Performs various clerical duties such as copying forms and reports, recording patient information, mailing surveys, preparing charts, and upkeep of electronic communication.
- File records, communication and other data in an efficient and correct manner.
- Maintain a clean and orderly scheduling area.
- Functions efficiently as a member of the facility team.
- Act as back up for prior authorization team.
- Help in keeping track of and calling referrals
Other duties as assigned
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Ability to communicate effectively with patients, visitors, and other medical personnel in both written and verbal form.
- Familiar with prior authorizations systems and terminology
- Proficient with completion and storage of medical procedure forms and various supporting paperwork.
- Familiar with medical terminology and front office practices.
- Current CPR/BLS certification (preferred)
- Treat clients, team members and guests with courtesy, respect while presenting a positive public image
- Able to keep patient confidentiality and follow HIPAA laws
- Proficient with office equipment and computer systems such as: EMR (electronic medical records), Excel, Microsoft Office, multiple phone lines, fax/copy machines, etc.
QUALIFICATIONS
- High School Diploma/GED.
- Minimum three-years’ experience in health care (preferred)
- Minimum of one-year experience in surgery scheduling procedures (preferred)
- Able to work independently and as part of a team. Able to handle a high workload in a busy environment while maintaining professionalism and a good attitude.
- Excellent customer service and front-desk/reception abilities.
- Able to stay organized and prioritize tasks as needed.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Able to sit and view computer screens for long periods of time.
