What you will do:
- The Histology Manager is responsible for the supervision and oversight of the histology lab.
- Responsibilities include operations and of training personnel.
- Coordination of quality assurance program
- Ensuring compliance with state and national regulatory agencies.
- Performs the highest quality histological procedures related to the microtomy, mounting, and staining of specimens for microscopic interpretation.
- Ability to confidently and rapidly cut and mount high quality paraffin embedded sections
- Preparing microscopic slides for diagnostic purposes, including embedding, microtomy, and mounting to include paraffin processed tissue.
- Required: BA/BS degree; BS in chemical, physical, or biological science, or medical technology preferred.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience as a Histotechnologist or Histotechnician.
- Minimum 1 year supervising people.
- Required: Certification: HT(ASCP) or HTL (ASCP).
- Knowledge of CLIA, New York, CAP and OSHA regulatory requirements.
- Expertise with paraffin blocks and microscopic slides.
- Must be able to troubleshoot areas of processing, microtomy, staining and equipment.
- Respects and maintains the confidentiality of information relative to clients and patients.
- Familiar with CAP and CLIA regulations.
