The primary purpose of this position is to plan, organize, develop and direct the overall operation of our Nursing service Departments in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations that govern our facility, and as may be directed by the Vice President of Operations, to ensure that the highest degree of quality care is maintained at all times.
As the Regional Director of Nursing Services, you are delegated the administrative authority, responsibility, and accountability necessary for carrying out your assigned duties.
Summary of essential job functions:
- Plan, develop, organize, implement, evaluate, and direct the nursing service department, as well as its programs and activities, in accordance with current rules, regulations, and guidelines that govern the long-term care facility.
- Educate Directors of Nursing on Regulatory changes as they apply to state and federal regulations as well as Joint Commission standards.
- Develop, maintain, and periodically update written policies and procedures that govern the day-to-day functions of the nursing service department.
- Maintain a reference library of written nursing material (i.e., PDR’S, Federal and State Regulations, etc.) that will assist the nursing service department in meeting the day-to-day needs of the resident.
- Develop, maintain, and periodically update the Nursing Service Procedures Manual and nursing service objectives and philosophies.
- Assist communities in Quality Assessment and Assurance, as well as improving Quality Measures in Skilled Nursing.
- Assist the Pharmacy in developing, maintaining, implementing, and periodically updating written policies and procedures for the administration, storage, and control of medications and supplies.
- Evaluate and implement recommendations from established committees as they may pertain to nursing services.
- Audit Medical Records as they pertain to Nursing Services to ensure compliance with nursing standards and regulations.
- Attend and participate in continuing educational programs designed to keep you abreast of changes in your profession, as well as to maintain your license on active status.
- Functions as the corporate resource for Infection Control, this includes educating DONs on infection control regulation changes.
Requirements
- Must be a Licensed Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of Illinois, Indiana, and Michigan or able to obtain licensure.
- Must have experience as a Director of Nursing in a Skilled Nursing Community.
- Certification in Infection Prevention.
- Previous experience in hospital or long term and post-acute care for 3-5 years; and ICU experience is a plus.
- BSN or MSN degree preferred.
- Must pass a physical, drug screen, 50-pound lift test, fingerprint for criminal background and successfully complete reference check.
