Responsibilities
- Perform a wide variety of laboratory procedures using manual and automated methods in Hematology, Blood Bank, Chemistry, Urinalysis, Coagulation, Microbiology, Immunology, and other disciplines.
- Maintenance of instruments and equipment, daily, weekly, monthly, or as needed.
- Review patient results prior to releasing or reporting.
- Recognize age-specific differences in expected results.
- Ensure proficiency testing samples are tested the same way as patient samples.
- May be required to perform venipuncture or capillary puncture on various age groups.
- Assist in the development and maintenance of laboratory policies and procedures.
- Adhere to all department and hospital policies and procedures related to safety, infection control, emergency preparedness, and human resources.
Requirements
- ASCP certification or equivalent.
- Two years of hospital laboratory work experience preferred.
- Bachelor's Degree in chemical, physical, biological science, or Medical Laboratory Technician from an accredited institution.
- Current and Valid State License if the laboratory is located in a state where required.
