Job Summary We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Director to lead and oversee daily laboratory operations, ensuring quality, accuracy, and efficiency in the provision of services. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing departmental budgets, fostering effective communication, supervising personnel, maintaining compliance with regulations, and improving overall performance.
Key Responsibilities:
Fiscal Management
- Steward of financial resources including time, budget, and personnel.
- Establish and manage departmental budget.
- Review monthly reports and respond to variances in productivity and expenses.
Communication
- Foster open communication and teamwork within and outside the department.
- Submit reports for Quality Improvement, Governing Board, and other administrative needs.
General Duties
- Ensure complete and accurate departmental documentation.
- Maintain and improve organizational performance through assessments and measures.
- Comply with all federal, state, local regulations and internal policies.
- Formulate departmental policies and ensure necessary equipment maintenance and certifications.
- Oversee daily laboratory operations, ensuring compliance with inspecting agency standards.
- Supervise accuracy of all laboratory test results.
- Monitor quality control charts, instrument function checks, and maintenance protocols.
- Perform technical tasks and share on-call duties when necessary.

Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Science or a related field (Chemical, Physical, or Biological Science) required.
- American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) certification preferred.
- Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (BLS) certification required within 60 days of hire.
- Five years clinical laboratory experience preferred.
- Relevant experience in the field of clinical laboratory management preferred.
