Job Summary
Background
The Providence Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) provides free, nutritious meals to all Providence youth ages 18 and under when school is not in session. Healthy food access during the summer is critical to a child's physical and social development. The SFSP is designed to fill the summer nutrition gap and make sure children get the nutritious meals they need to play during the summer and return to school ready to learn.
Job Description
The SFSP Dock Monitor will work under the direct supervision of the administrators of the SFSP. They will serve as liaison between the administration for the SFSP and the SFSP food vendor. The Dock Monitor will be responsible for collecting paperwork from meal sites, quickly reviewing forms to check for errors and signatures, assisting food vendor/meal site with pickup, and answering questions meal sites may have. The Dock Monitor will work mornings, 7am-10am, Monday-Friday (excluding holidays).
Responsibilities
Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- Serve as a liaison between the administration for the SFSP and the SFSP food vendor.
- Ensure food site personnel maintain accurate records and required documentation.
- Arrive on time daily to help facilitate meal pickup
- Perform other duties as assigned relevant to Summer Lunch operations.
Requirements – Applicants must
- Have a high school diploma or equivalent (completion of bachelor’s program preferred).
- Show good communication and interpersonal skills to support quality meal service and support site staff.
- Be dependable and able to work independently.
- Be familiar with the City of Providence.
- Have a driver’s license and access to a vehicle with State required registration and insurance.
- Be comfortable working outside and actively engaging with diverse populations.
Additional Information
- Mandatory training will be provided
- Preference given to Providence residents.
- Position may be considered to fit internship or public service requirements
Note:
All applicants 18 and older, will be required to complete a form for a background check, run by the Providence Police
