The Providence School System is seeking a dedicated and experienced Specialist  of Family and Community Engagement & Strategic Partnerships to support our mission of fostering meaningful partnerships between schools, families, community and partners. The coordinator will play a pivotal role in planning, implementing, and evaluating initiatives that enhance family and community engagement to improve student success and strengthen the educational experience in our school district. 

 

GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: The specialist will build collaborative partnerships with parents, community members, partners, consultants, as well as, other internal/external resources and stakeholders to support the team in coordinating and monitoring  initiatives and programs of engagement to contribute to student achievement. Successful candidates must also possess a high level of comfort with ambiguity and the willingness to seek new solutions. 

 

SUPERVISION RECEIVED: The specialist works under the general supervision of the Director of Strategic Partnership and Chief of Family and Community Engagement.  

 

 

EDUCATION TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: 

  • Bachelor's degree in education, social work, community development, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in program management and family/community engagement. 
  • Strong knowledge of best practices in family and community engagement within an educational context.  

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS STANDARDS: 

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills. 
  • Data-driven and proficient in data collection and analysis. 
  • Grant writing and fundraising experience is a plus. 
  • Bilingual skills, particularly in languages spoken within the Providence community, are highly desirable. 
  • Focus on action and results in order to create a positive learning culture.
  • Ability to support  adult teams to promote the mission and vision of PPSD.
  • Must have the knowledge and skills to build positive relationships with people  from diverse populations.
  • Commitment to the mission and vision of PPSD and the relevance of job functions to that mission and vision.
  • You must complete the new hire compliance training prior to your first day of employment.
  • Selected candidates will be required to pass a pre-employment criminal history background check. Selected candidates cannot begin work until passing their background check. 

 

 

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Under the direction of the Chief of Family and Community Engagement and the Director of Strategic Partnerships, the specialist will support with: 

  • Strategic Planning: Collaborate with the Family and Community Engagement (FACE) leadership team to develop and implement strategic plans for family and community engagement initiatives that align with district goals and priorities as set forth in the Turnaround Action Plan. 
  • Parent Ambassador: Support the recruitment, onboarding, and professional development of the Parent Ambassador Program. 
  • Volunteer Management: Monitor the volunteer application process, BCI clearance, onboarding and training. Maintain an accurate database of active district volunteers, ensure timely application renewals, and align recruitment goals with the Turnaround Action Plan. 
  • Customer Service Platform: Manage the “Let’s Talk” customer service platform, support onboarding for schools and district teams, monitor customer service quality, and track response rate goals in alignment with the Turnaround Action Plan. 
  • Set goals for onboarding all schools and departments onto the “Let’s Talk” platform. 
  • Develop and lead customer service training sessions for various audiences, including school clerks, teachers, teacher assistants, and other Providence Public Schools staff members. 
  • Event Coordination: Lead the coordination of events organized by the FACE office, such as back-to-school events, the school choice fair, high school graduations, holiday drives for families facing housing insecurity, and the summer learning fair. 
  • Support the FACE leadership team by attending and leading engagement activities such as Parent University, Parent Leadership Academy, and school events as needed. Serve as the district liaison for inquiries related to Parent Ambassadors, volunteers, events, and customer service. 

 

Strategic Partnerships Support: 

Build and maintain strong relationships with parents, guardians, community organizations, district and school staff to foster a collaborative environment. 

  • Facilitate communication and support between Providence Public Schools (PPSD) and community partners to promote mutual understanding and cooperation. 
  • Collaborate directly with the Director of Strategic Partnerships to monitor community partners' timelines for the submission of required documents to formalize partnerships with PPSD. 
  • Act as a liaison to support the timely completion of applications, document submissions, building use form submission and approvals notification and other steps necessary to support timely partnerships with community organizations. 

Communication and Outreach: 

  • Develop and execute effective communication strategies to inform families and the community about family and community engagement programs, training, events, and resources. 
  • Assist with trackers, agendas, and the organization of regular meetings, workshops, and events to engage families and community members. 
  • Share timely communication with the Parent Advisory Council, Student Advisory Council, District-wide Advisory Council, and other stakeholders about various initiatives from the Office of Family and Community Engagement, such as parent meetings, Parent University workshops, and support for students and families. 

Data Collection and Reporting: 

  • Collect, analyze, and report data related to family and community engagement initiatives in alignment with the Turnaround Action Plan to measure their impact on student success and identify areas for improvement. 
  • Utilize data to make informed decisions and adjustments to programs and strategies. 
  • Maintain comprehensive records of program activities, participant data, and outcomes. 
  • Prepare regular reports and presentations for school leadership and relevant stakeholders.
