What are the responsibilities and job description for the Teacher / Lower School / 1st or 2nd Grade position at PROVIDENCE SCHOOLS?
Providence lower school teachers provide a rigorous learning environment for their students that is based on a Biblical worldview. Teachers are expected to collaborate with their grade level colleagues and/or supervisors to prepare their students to be “Boldly Christian and Unquestionably Academic.” Teachers are expected to forge positive relationships with their colleagues and with the parents of the students they teach, so that they serve as examples of those who follow Christ.
- Teach students core curriculum (Math, English, Reading, Science, Social Studies*) and Bible in the classroom, in accordance with school-approved curriculum standards.
- Plan and implement lessons that meet the needs of their learners and address the standards for each content area assigned to the teacher.
- Reinforce a Biblical worldview, teaching the principles of a Christ-centered life, which includes weekly attendance at chapel.
- Collaborate with teachers in other grades to ensure vertical curricular alignment.
- Monitor student progress in learning, as measured by the benchmark assessments given in fall, winter, and spring, as well as student performance as measured by grades in each subject.
- Adjust teaching methodologies to meet the varying needs of students, based on student performance data.
- Prepare and modify engaging lessons, activities, and events that support the content standards of the grade for which the teacher is assigned.
- Participate in, and implement the practices of, professional learning. Demonstrate the characteristics of a perpetual learner who is committed to growth as an educator.
- Communicate frequently with parents and colleagues regarding student progress and necessary actions to ensure academic and behavioral student success.
- Education: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
- Experience: 3 years continuous teaching experience at the elementary level. Salary is based on verified years of teaching experience.
- Certifications & Licenses: Florida teaching certificate in Elementary Education K-6 (Elem. level); Eligible or holds ACSI Certification
- Agrees with the Statement of Faith and Lifestyle Agreement of Providence School
