The Role of a Medical Assistant II
A Medical Assistant II works under the delegation of a licensed practitioner to perform duties as directed to assist in providing patient care to assigned patients. This role encompasses all aspects of the Medical Assistant I role and requires full competency in the clinical needs and functions for the assigned clinic or location of work.
In accordance with established policies, procedures, and regulations, a Medical Assistant II is expected to perform their duties efficiently and effectively.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assisting licensed practitioners in providing patient care
- Performing clinical tasks such as taking vital signs and preparing patients for exams
- Maintaining accurate and up-to-date patient records
- Communicating effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams
- Supporting infection control and prevention initiatives
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you should possess the following qualifications:
- Certification as a Medical Assistant in Washington State or willingness to obtain certification within 6 months
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 6 months of experience in a healthcare setting
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association
