Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality interpretation services with advanced proficiency in both oral and written English and Spanish
  • Utilize your native or near-native fluency in Spanish to ensure clear and effective communication
  • Exhibit fluent English pronunciation
  • Apply your professional-level medical interpreting skills and knowledge of medical vocabulary to assist Limited English Proficient (LEP) patients and Swedish personnel
  • Ensure linguistically appropriate care for LEP patients
  • Act as a cultural broker and patient advocate, helping LEP patients access a full range of Swedish services

Required Qualifications:

  • Upon Hire:
  • National Certified Medical Interpreter - National Board of Certification for Medical Interpreters --or--
  • Washington Social Services Interpreter - Washington State Department of Social and Health Services
  • 1 year of Interpretation experience in a medical clinic or hospital setting

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Coursework/Training: Continuing education and/or training preferred in medical interpretation competencies, translation and medical terminology/phrases or equivalent experience
  • 3 years of Interpretation experience in a medical clinic or hospital setting
