Position Summary:
The Clinical Academy-Transition into Practice program (TIP) is committed to developing new graduates as a part of our strategic priority to ensure we provide the highest quality care to those we serve.
This RN professional development program is designed to support the newly licensed Resident’s progression from education into practice and into their first professional nursing role.
This Clinical Academy TIP program is offered throughout our Southern California hospitals. The following considerations are used for selection and candidate placement into various clinical areas:
- Availability Varies : Availability of specific clinical areas for the TIP program varies at each hospital and are made into areas that offer growth and training opportunities
- Shift Options : Typically we have more night shift opportunities than day shift assignments, so flexibility is key
- Travel Between Hospitals : While a large portion of your training occurs at the hospital, some training will take place at other locations
- Specialty options MAY Include:
- Intensive Care Unit
- Emergency Department
- Mother-Baby Unit
- Medical Surgical/Telemetry
- Medical Oncology
- Surgical Neuro
- Rehab
- Cardiac Progressive Care Unit
- Pathways Program
- Orthopedics
- In this program you will:
- Work with a preceptor and assume increasing responsibility during the program
- Demonstrate competencies in populations served at completion of program
- Assess, diagnose, plan, implement and evaluate patient’s care to achieve patient goals and to optimize outcomes
- Effectively advocate for ethical and holistic care by partnering in care planning to promote the autonomy, dignity, rights, values and beliefs of those we serve
- Foster a learning environment for patient/families, nursing, and other members of the healthcare team including students
- Align practice with safety and quality, be accountable for safety, identify and correct problems
- Engage in ongoing professional development; promote a culture of inquiry that explores and integrates research and evidence-based practice.
- Lead and coordinate teams, delegate, coordinate care and collaborate with others as part of the inter-professional care team to integrate nursing knowledge.
Required qualifications for this position include:
- Nursing degree/diploma upon hire (ASN or higher)
- BSN degree required for consideration at St. Jude
- Active California state RN license prior to start date
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for Healthcare Providers- American Heart Association
- Other certifications specific to area of specialization, as required
- If an internal candidate, meets eligibility requirements to post/request transfer
- If an internal candidate, must apply and interview with the ministry currently employed
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) or master’s degree in Nursing (MSN)
