Level One Medical Aide (L1MA)

Essential Duties & Responsibilities Accountabilities

• Dispense or administer medications, as ordered by the physician and chart medications. Includes injectable medications.
• Assists in resident’s self-care and hygiene needs, including bathing and cleaning of resident rooms and common areas.
• Notifies the QMHP or the Resident Care Coordinator of any changes in residents’ mood or behavior.
• Provides resident oversite and support.
• Helps keep the environment clean and free from hazards by active participation and modeling.
• Help residents with laundry and making beds.
• Take regular vital signs on the residents and blood sugar tests.
• Conducts regular safety checks on residents and document in our Electronic Health Record system (EHR).
• Cleans resident rooms, bathroom, and common areas, including but not limited to sweeping, mopping, and vacuuming.
• Ensures resident and staff areas are appropriately stocked with supplies.
• Ability to provide aid in case of resident fall, including lifting of resident.
• Responds to phone calls in a timely and professional manner
• Order lab work when necessary.
• Attends doctor’s appointments with residents, when needed
• Admits and escorts guests of the Mary Ryder Home.
• Completes weekly inventory of program supplies.
• Administers and prepares healthy meals for residents, including cooking of meals according to resident dietary needs, serving of meals to residents, and clean up of food preparation and dining area at the end of meals.

Work Conditions and Environment

• Work out of the Mary Ryder Home facility, located at 4361 Olive St, Saint Louis, MO 63108
• Work schedule is up to 30-hour work week, including overnights and weekends
• Ability to travel to other Provident sites, when needed
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs, including assisting a resident from floor to standing, as needed, with gait belt
• Have the ability to do repetitive motions such as bending, sweeping and standing.
• Ability to navigate building and work areas independently
• Position will work alone during overnight shifts

Other Skills Required

• Knowledge of HIPAA and ability to maintain confidentiality.
• Strong skills using and navigating computers and software programs. Ability to navigate computer, phone, electronic health record (EHR), Microsoft Office Suite, and other information technology systems independently.
• Display the ability to remain calm and communicate in a manner to promote well-being of residents and teammates.
• Participate as a team member, collaborating with and providing excellent customer service to residents, funders, community partners teammates, other Provident employees, and other internal and external customers.
• Serve as a representative of Provident/Mary Ryder Home, displaying courtesy, tact, consideration and discretion in all interactions with Provident/Mary Ryder Home team members, clients, grantors, funders, auditors, and members of the general public.
• Ability to foster a positive and inclusive work culture with peers and inclusive treatment environment for residents.
• Ability to maintain healthy boundaries with residents

Job Requirements and Qualifications

Minimum Education:

• High School Diploma

Minimum Experience:

• Previous experience and certification as a L1MA preferred, but not required. Insulin Certified also preferred but not required.
• Experience working in residential settings, with older adults, and/or in behavioral health/mental health settings preferred, but not required.

Licenses/Certifications:

• Current and ongoing Level One Medication Aide Certificate (L1MA). Training & certification provided upon hire.
• Current and ongoing CPR/AED/First Aid. Training and certification provided upon hire.
• Applicant must be on the DHSS Family Care Safety Registry to be considered & have a clear background check and drug screening.
• Physical examination, Hepatitis A shot, and TB testing required prior to first day. Exam, Hep A and TB provided by agency.

The Med Level Aide will be responsible for the daily care and coordination of services for the 16 residents living at Mary Ryder Home. Mary Ryder Home is licensed as an Intensive Residential Treatment Setting (IRTS). The goal of Mary Ryder Home is to help support the residents to live more independent lives. The program provides women 55 who have severe and persistent mental illness with a safe environment to learn daily living skills, and receive mental and physical health supports. As a Med Level Aide, you will work with a team of providers to provide residents with healthy nutritious meals, administer medications and help maintain a clean and safe environment.

The schedule for this position is up to 30 hours a week with shifts that are from 2:00 PM to 10:00 PM and 10:00 PM to 6:00 AM with weekend shifts included.
