THE ROLE: DAILY RESPONSIBILITIES
As the Cheese, Charcuterie, Prep Foods Counter Manager, your role is to lead the team who provide product-focused service in cheese, charcuterie, prepared foods, pasta, bakery, coffee, and grocery retail. The "Deli" Manager is the quarterback of all these functions, responsible for leading our team and building a supportive and collaborative culture. Individuals in this role must set the expectations for the day, and ensure that staff know where they need to be and how to perform effectively while upholding the values and service standards expressed in the Providore handbook. This is a store leadership position with responsibility to open, close, cash handle and most importantly convey and lead a culture that is collaborative, fun, and productive.
QUALIFICATIONS
- You have a minimum of three years of managerial experience, preferable in a food service environment
- You are knowledgeable about food, wine cooking. Experience working with cheese and charcuterie is a plus
- You are a calm and positive leader with incredible people skills
- You are highly organized and are always looking for ways to evolve systems to meet the needs of the business
- You love customer service and have a clear model you can model and teach
- You are able to guide and teach staff to find positive and productive solutions to issues that may arise with with customers or other team members
- You are self-motivated, and constantly look for ways to contribute
ROLES RESPONSIBILITIES
- Oversee systems for opening and closing, daily productivity, and cleanliness
- Assign daily tasks to counter service staff prioritizing customer service and productivity
- Oversee product rotation, cleanliness and organization
- Order from select distributors and producers, maintaining pars set by buyers
- Manage scale database information, ensuring that scales have correct price barcodes
- Participate in interviews and hiring decisions with GM
- Responsible for employee performance management from reviews to coaching to discipline
- Writes, publishes and manages staff scheduling
- Train new employees with the counter leads
- Supports business goals such as gross margin, labor and sales targets
- Works closely with other store managers and executive team on all operational aspects of the business
- Will train in all other departments of the store including floor, cash and wine to support the needs of the business
THE NEED: REQUIREMENTS
- This is a full-time job (40 hours/week) and can work regular weekend and evening shifts (store hours are 10a-7p everyday)
- You have open availability during the holidays (November 15-January 1) with no pre-arranged travel
- You must be able to safely perform the physical demands of the job including standing, climbing ladders, reaching, stooping, and lifting loads of up to 50 pounds
- You are fully vaccinated and boosted against COVID-19
