DIRECTOR OF NURSING
Job Title : Director of Nursing
Job Status : Full Time
Reports To : Executive Director
Position Summary :
As the Director of Nursing (DON), reporting directly to the Executive Director, you ensure the provision of quality nursing care in accordance with State and Local regulations while leading the nursing team to provide a top-notch experience to all residents. This role acts as the Director in the community in the absence of the Executive Director.
Essential Duties :
- Oversee the delivery of care to residents to ensure that emotional, physical, psychological and safety needs are met
- Oversee and be responsible for the delivery of quality care and services to our residents in compliance with the regulations
- Administer medications and / or treatments for all residents, adhering to facility policies and procedures
- Manage the caregiver staff
- Hire and train employees
- Ensure all Nursing Staff strictly adheres to all medical and communication logs, policies and procedures
- Perform management and administrative duties in the absence of the Executive Director
- Act as first responder to resident emergency response system
- Oversee and implement infection control, pharmaceutical, all policies and procedures, and assures that committee recommendations are carried out
- Function as a liaison between the residents, their families, staff and the public
- Assess potential residents for assisted living, independent living, and memory care regarding the care level and the appropriate placement
- Develop and implement nursing service objectives
- Maintain a safe work environment through the prevention of accidents, the preservation of equipment, and the achievement of safe working practices
- Maintain annual budget with conjunction of the Executive Director
- Maintain current knowledge of scope of practice for self and staff members, and recognize legal implications when making nursing judgments / decisions
- Perform other duties as assigned
