Shift Supervisor Job Description
Job Title: Shift Supervisor
Reports to: Director of Nursing
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Position Summary
The Shift Supervisor works with team members to provide leadership and training. This position requires full understanding of resident care, knowledge of assisted living care and memory care services, effective communication and reporting, strong customer service and problem-solving skills to ensure quality care.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
- Responsible for reporting pertinent information to department heads
- Lead the beginning and end of shift activities
- Assure all Residents are treated with kindness and respect while protecting them from accidents and injuries
- Monitor the nurse call system
- Assist with training of new associates including resident service plans, reporting, first aid, personal care, resident rights and responsibilities, safety and fire prevention, containment of infectious disease and standard precautions
- Complete and manage incident reports
- Understand and implement emergency safety procedures
- Medication administration when applicable
- Other duties may be assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities
This position does not have any supervisory responsibilities.
Requirements
Education
High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
Skills/Experience
- Medical Technician certification required
- Experience in a supervisory and training role
- Experience with medical recording systems
- Proficient in fire drills, elopement procedures and risk management
Travel
Travel is not required.
