Our award-winning client is seeking a Plant Controller to join their team. The Plant Controller is a key financial leader responsible for the overall financial health and stability of the plant. This role provides strategic financial guidance to management, oversees all accounting operations, ensures regulatory compliance, and manages the finance team.
The Plant Controller analyzes financial performance, develops budgets, forecasts future performance, and recommends operational adjustments to maximize profitability. This position requires strong analytical skills, leadership abilities, and a deep understanding of manufacturing accounting practices.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and recommend key financial strategies, objectives, and policies for the plant, aligning with overall corporate goals.
- Prepare comprehensive financial reports summarizing and forecasting plant business activity and financial position, including income, expenses, and earnings projections based on past, present, and anticipated operations.
- Lead the annual budget process, including developing budget proposals, reviewing submissions, and creating supporting documentation and justifications.
- Provide timely and insightful financial analysis to plant management, highlighting performance against budget, identifying trends, and recommending corrective actions.
- Determine appropriate depreciation rates for capital assets.
- Advise management on operational adjustments necessitated by tax code revisions.
- Manage external audits of plant accounts, prepare required reports for regulatory agencies, and ensure a smooth fiscal year-end close.
- Oversee accounts payable, including approving vouchers and signing checks.
- Prepare and submit required reports, including SRP and month-end reports.
- Manage payroll processing through ADP.
- Supervise the Finance Department, including two direct reports (Accountants).
- Manage the finance team, including interviewing, hiring, training, performance management, work assignment, and employee relations.
Direct Reports:
- Two Accountants.
Required Qualifications:
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data and translate it into actionable insights.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present financial information effectively to various audiences.
- Proficiency in financial modeling and forecasting.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices, particularly within a manufacturing environment.
- Advanced Excel skills and proficiency in Microsoft Word and PowerPoint.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and government regulations.
Educational Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance (or equivalent) plus two to four years of related experience in a manufacturing accounting environment.
- A Master's degree or relevant certification (e.g., CPA) is preferred.
