YOUR IMPACT

Proxima Fusion, you will join a diverse and interdisciplinary team working at the frontier of fusion technology.

As a Senior Software Engineer: Data Infrastructure, you will play a critical role in advancing our ML and data management capabilities to support fusion technology development. Your work will focus on designing and implementing scalable data pipelines, MLOps tooling, and cloud-based training pipelines for large-scale simulations.

This role provides a unique opportunity to collaborate with machine learning experts, software engineers, fusion scientists, and fusion engineers, making a tangible impact on the future of clean energy.

• Contribute to our ML-related software engineering efforts, working closely with ML researchers, our software infrastructure team, and fusion experts.
• Develop MLOps tooling, ML model implementations, data analysis, dataset management, data pipelines, cloud-based large-scale simulations, and visualization tooling.
• Act as a bridge between interdisciplinary team members, building systems that empower ML experts, software engineers, and fusion scientists.
• Serve as the first point of contact for software needs within the AI team, defining and ensuring best practices in software development.

• Hold a Master’s degree in computer science, machine learning, physics, mathematics, or equivalent experience.
• Strong experience in building a data infrastructure or in data engineering
• Possess strong knowledge of Python software development and the PyData ecosystem.
• Have experience with pipeline scheduling systems such as Airflow or Dagster.
• Are proficient in ETL systems such as PySpark and Kubernetes.
• Have experience with computation in cloud or HPC environments, scalable training pipelines involving numerical simulations, and distributed computing.
