In-Person Tutoring and Facilitator Position for School and High-School Age children
Part-time Tutoring Position – Services provided at the facility
Must Be Available During the Students' Instructional Day.
No after-school or weekend tutoring available
Terms of Employment: Up to 6 Months
POSITION SUMMARY:
The tutor will utilize appropriate educational curriculum based on Illinois State Standards. Proximity Learning will provide the instructional materials. With supervision the tutor will create and maintain an educational atmosphere that encourages effective student learning. This person will report directly to the facility Director of Education and the Proximity Learning Chicago Manager.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Administer appropriate tutoring from a curriculum that is aligned to Illinois State Standards.
- Assist remote classroom teacher as a facilitator. Responsibility is to ensure all students are participating in class instruction in a safe environment.
- Following the recommendation of the classroom teacher, assist in differentiating instruction and supplement content to meet the needs of all students during class or in a tutoring setting.
- Create and maintain a positive, engaging learning environment for all students.
- Participate in other job-related duties and activities related to the position as assigned, including but not limited to professional development and facility meetings.
- Maintain a professional appearance by following PLI professional dress code.
- This is a 5 day a week position, all tutors/facilitators are expected to work the full week and day.
POSITION EXPECTATIONS:
- Demonstrate knowledge, skill, and ability to tutor and assist the remote classroom teacher in maintaining student safety and engagement.
- Work cooperatively with remote teacher, students, colleagues, and company management.
- Understand the learning process as students work toward achievement of curriculum goals.
- Establish relationship with remote teacher to understand objectives for all lessons, units, assignments, and projects.
- Maintain accurate and complete records as required by company policy.
- Maintain and improve professional competence.
- Critical issues are to be communicated effectively with the remote teacher and Proximity Learning leadership team within 24 hours.
- Monthly observations and check-ins to ensure all educational and social goals are being met.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s Degree ideal but not required
- Experience of working with children or adults in a tutoring, mentoring or supervisor capacity
TECHNOLOGY REQUIREMENTS:
Proficiency with the computer, ability to participate in zoom meetings.
BENEFITS AVAILABLE
The hourly wage is $25.00-30.00/hour. No benefits at this time
