It is a major distributor of tequila and other spirits, best known for Jose Cuervo, the world's largest-selling tequila brand. With over 300 employees, the Lawrenceburg, IN facility (Proximo Distillers Indiana - PDI) bottles about 15 million cases a year for all of North America.
WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING
Reporting to the Supply Chain Director and leading a small team, you will be responsible for coordinating and optimizing supply chain, materials management and production processes to meet customer demand while minimizing costs and ensuring efficient operations. This role involves coordinating supply chain activities, optimizing material flow, minimizing production downtime, and ensuring cost-effective procurement strategies. You will serve as a key interface for the Product Supply Organization and the Demand Planning Organization and resolve issues to balance supply and demand and anticipate any risk to the plan. This role will prepare and participate in the IBP process and meetings. As a member of a planning team, you will be jointly responsible for team metrics.
Supply & Material Planning:
- Develop and implement supply chain strategies to ensure continuous availability of materials.
- Coordinate with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of raw materials, components, and finished goods.
- Manage and monitor bulk inventory levels and movement. Implement inventory management techniques and tools to support bulk management and long-term planning.
- Assess supplier performance and negotiate contracts to optimize costs and quality.
Production Planning & Scheduling:
- Develop and maintain master production schedules based on demand forecasts, inventory levels, and resource availability.
- Ensure production plans align with business objectives, cost constraints, and customer requirements.
- Identify bottlenecks and implement strategies to improve production efficiency.
- Collaborate with manufacturing teams to balance workloads and optimize production capacity.
- Process Optimization & Cost Management:
- Analyze demand trends, market conditions, and production capabilities to optimize procurement and production planning.
- Identify opportunities to reduce costs while maintaining quality and service levels.
- Implement TPM methodology for process optimization.
Collaboration & Communication:
- Work closely with procurement, warehouse, logistics, sales, and manufacturing teams.
- Maintain clear communication with key stakeholders to align supply chain objectives with overall business goals.
- Prepare reports and dashboards to track key performance indicators (KPIs) related to supply, material, and production planning.
- Develop Business Intelligence (BI) reporting tool, ensure standardization and develop Supply Chain community expertise.
Results / Metrics Position Will Be Measured Against:
- Customer service levels.
- Supplier Lead Time (Days) – Tracks the average time it takes for suppliers to fulfil orders.
- Inventory cost and days of stock
- Production schedule adherence
- Barrel Aging & Inventory Readiness – Tracks the percentage of aged spirits ready for bottling according to forecasted demand.
- Cost Savings from Process Improvements ($ or %) – Tracks financial benefits from efficiency initiatives, such as reduced waste or improved supplier terms.
IDEAL CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- 5 years of leadership experience in supply chain, material planning, or production planning roles.
- MBA/ in Logistics, Industrial Engineering or related field preferred
- Strong knowledge of ERP/MRP systems, inventory management, and forecasting techniques.
- Willingness to travel 15-20%
- Experience with lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other process improvement methodologies is a plus.
- Familiarity with advanced planning technology and decision-support tools
- Proficiency in software such as SAP, Oracle, or other supply chain management tools.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work well with all levels of employees
