Summary:

We are seeking an initiative-taking and experienced human resources leader with expertise to support our dynamic and growing team. The Director of People and Culture position requires creativity, development, and coordination of human resource matters through a strong equity lens. This person must embrace, build, and live the culture of our company, while building solid relationships with our employee owners. The Director of People and Culture will play a significant role in enhancing our organizational culture to reflect our core values and helps create and support an environment that allows our employees and managers to be highly effective and engaged and therefore able to serve our clients at the highest level.

People and Culture does this by:

  • Helping to build an employee-ownership culture that supports our anti-racist vision and promotes diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging.
  • Helping to create an environment where employees can perform at their full capacity, while remaining satisfied and challenged by their work
  • Ensuring that PRR conducts employee practices that are not only within the guidelines of all local, State, and Federal regulations and laws, but is at the forefront of inclusion for employees from all backgrounds and perspectives.

The Director will report to the Chief Operating Officer and will be part of a broader operations department who is tasked with providing the essential capabilities and support for the organization to excel. This position will be a key member of the management team and will partner with people managers as a trusted advisor for all people-related matters. The ideal candidate is a talent strategist and executor – possessing impeccable judgment, professional maturity, strong coaching skills, and a high-level of comfort in ambiguous situations.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Talent Acquisition & Workforce Planning

  • Lead talent discussions succession planning, and development of talent pipelines to ensure organizational continuity and a strategic approach to workforce planning.
  • Oversee Talent Specialist to ensure high-level recruitment and onboarding practices are aligned with the strategic direction and goals of the organization.
  • Design hiring strategies for new and backfilled roles, ensuring equitable and effective recruitment processes.
  • Partner with leadership to align workforce planning with organizational needs.
  • Oversee compensation strategies, including salary benchmarking, pay equity analysis, and benefits optimization and administration.

Performance Management and Leadership Development

  • Lead the design and execution of the performance management framework, incorporating goal setting, feedback cycles, and evaluation tools.
  • Identify and implement leadership development and manager training programs, equipping leaders with the skills to coach and grow their teams.
  • Ensure consistent performance feedback process and continuous improvement practices.
  • Drive career pathing frameworks, providing employees with clear pathways for growth and development.
  • Utilize PRR’s utilization reports, company resource management tool, HR systems and analytics to track performance trends and inform talent strategies.

People Operations & Compliance

  • Establish and refine HR policies to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal labor laws.
  • Ensure compliance with HR policies, optimize HR systems, and minimize organizational risk.
  • Partner with Talent Specialist to ensure structured and scalable onboarding and offboarding processes, maintaining consistent and equitable employee experience.
  • Serve as a key HR business partner to managers, providing guidance and support on employee relations and compliance matters to foster a positive work environment.
  • Manage professional development and talent acquisition budgets and assess hiring needs for budgeting process.

Employee Experience, Engagement, and Culture

  • Provide oversight of teams responsible for organizing, facilitating, and leading staff culture teams including the office culture team, fun committee, ESOP committee, and company affinity groups.
  • Champion change management efforts to support organizational transitions and new initiatives.
  • In partnership with Equity Team and Culture Strategies Lead, serve as a culture steward, driving initiatives that enhance employee engagement and inclusion.
  • Conduct annual Gallup Q12 surveys and other feedback initiatives and use data-driven insights to enhance employee experience.
  • Guide managers on employee retention, reward, and recognition opportunities.
  • Oversee PRR’s Recognition Program.

Benefits Administration

  • Oversee administration of all company benefits including effective delegation of benefits administration to members of the HR team.
  • Partner as needed with accounting team on payroll and administration of 401k and ESOP plans.
  • Oversee HR team’s work with COBRA administrator, flexible spending account administrator and insurance broker.
  • Review benefits trends and best practices to assure PRR remains competitive in the market.

Policy Development

  • Recommend and implement HR policies and procedures, review employee handbook annually.
  • Maintain knowledge of industry trends and employment legislation and ensure company compliance.

Management

  • Participate in PRR’s Management and Operations Leadership teams.
  • Plan and develop People & Culture goals and objectives.
  • Supervise People and Culture team members.
  • Ensure team stays current and up to date on the latest HR trends and employment laws.

Quality Assurance

  • Set and maintain high, error-free standards for all communications.
  • Provide timely and accurate response to information requests.
  • Proof and edit all work products prior to distribution.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • 10 years of HR experience, including talent development and acquisition, organizational development, and employee relations.
  • 3 years leadership and management experience.
  • Experience collaborating with senior leaders to develop and implement HR strategies and initiatives.
  • Experience building talent structures and processes for growing organizations.
  • Extensive knowledge of human resource policies and procedures; familiar with federal and state laws
  • Familiarity with HR information systems, and track record of setting and meeting HR performance metrics
  • Demonstrated ability to provide sound advice on sensitive matters.
  • Strong facilitation and strategic thinking skills, with the demonstrated ability to lead in complex environments.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills that are impactful with leaders and people managers.
  • Proven ability to prioritize, manage multiple responsibilities, and meet deadlines.
  • Strong consultation and collaboration skills, with high emotional intelligence.
  • Strong attention to detail with experience in collecting, reporting, and leveraging data to drive improvements in talent and culture.
  • Proficient in Microsoft 365.

Desired Skills and Qualifications

  • SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR
  • Professional Services experience
  • HRIS software experience (Paycom software experience a plus)

 

Compensation

The full salary range for this position is $165,000.00 - $175,000.00 per year. We aim to hire new employees between $165,000.00 - $170,000.00 per year (depending on experience) allowing for future compensation growth within the range based on aptitude in the role, context, progress, and performance against goals over time.
