Our client, a well-established general contractor in Houston, is looking for a talented Estimator with a focus on K-12 educational projects. About the Role

As an Estimator, you will be responsible for providing accurate cost estimates for K-12 construction projects from early planning through to project completion. You will analyze project drawings, specifications, and related documentation, and collaborate closely with project managers, architects, and subcontractors to ensure precise and competitive estimates. Your expertise will play a crucial role in helping secure new projects and maintaining the financial success of ongoing ones.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare detailed cost estimates for K-12 construction projects, including labor, materials, equipment, and overhead.
• Review and analyze project plans, specifications, and documents to identify all costs associated with the project.
• Work closely with project managers, architects, and subcontractors to gather input and ensure estimates are accurate and comprehensive.
• Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive bids and pricing.
• Collaborate with senior leadership to ensure estimates align with the overall project strategy and objectives.
• Provide value engineering recommendations and cost-saving opportunities without compromising project quality.
• Track and document changes in scope, adjusting estimates as necessary during the course of the project.
• Assist with preparing bids and proposals for new projects.

Requirements:

• 3-5 years of estimating experience in the construction industry, with a focus on K-12 or commercial projects.
• Strong understanding of construction processes, materials, and costs.
• Proven ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contracts.
• Familiarity with estimating software and tools.
• Strong communication, organizational, and negotiation skills.
• Ability to work in a collaborative environment and build strong relationships with subcontractors, clients, and internal teams.
• A degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field (preferred).
