    Do you have a passion for forestry and a desire to contribute to the sustainability of our natural resources PRT is seeking an experienced and driven Eastern Seed Orchard Supervisor to join our growing team in Moultrie Georgia. In this handson role youll play a critical part in overseeing the production of highquality genetically improved southern pine seed ensuring the future of our forests. Youll lead a team of dedicated technicians manage daily orchard operations and implement best practices to maximize seed production and quality. This position will require up to 40% overnight travel offering the opportunity to experience diverse orchard environments and contribute to a wider network of seed production.< / p>

    Responsibilities Your Roots Run Deep< / strong>< / p>

    This role is multifaceted and requires a proactive and detailoriented approach. Your key areas of focus will include : < / strong>< / p>

    Team Leadership & Development : < / strong>< / p>

    • Foster a culture of safety and ensure adherence to all PRT safety policies and procedures.< / li>
    • Provide technical training and mentorship to orchard staff promoting their professional development.< / li>
    • Supervise and coordinate the activities of the Seed Orchard and Tree Improvement Specialist in White City AL.< / li>
    • Conduct weekly planning meetings with technicians to schedule tasks and ensure efficient workflow.< / li>< / ul>

      Orchard Operations Management : < / strong>< / p>

      • Assist the Eastern Seed Orchard Manager in planning implementing and overseeing all seed orchard activities including :
        • Orchard establishment and maintenance< / li>
        • Grafting operations< / li>
        • Fertilization and herbicide / insecticide applications< / li>
        • Controlled Mass Pollination (CMP)< / li>
        • Cone harvest< / li>< / ul>< / li>
        • Maintain meticulous records of all orchard activities including cone harvest collection CMP bagging pollen inventory grafting maps and other crucial data.< / li>
        • Continuously evaluate orchard operations identify areas for improvement and implement innovative solutions to enhance safety efficiency and accuracy.< / li>
        • Ensure proper maintenance of all equipment and maintain accurate service records.< / li>
        • Regularly inspect orchard facilities to address housekeeping and safety concerns.< / li>
        • Play a key role in CMP production efforts ensuring optimal pollen collection storage and application.< / li>
        • Oversee the care of orchards equipment and facilities to ensure the development of future cone crops.< / li>< / ul>

          Collaboration & Reporting : < / strong>< / p>

          • Collaborate with the Eastern Seed Orchard Manager on :
            • Developing annual capital plans and budgets< / li>
            • Developing and maintaining Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)< / li>
            • Managing and reporting on contract labor crews< / li>< / ul>< / li>
            • Effectively communicate key findings and improvement ideas to management.< / li>
            • Work with internal and external resources to achieve production and research objectives in a safe and efficient manner.< / li>< / ul>

            • Weekdays and weekends as needed especially during our busiest times of the year.< / p>

              You are a passionate and experienced forestry professional with a proven track record in seed orchard management. You thrive in a dynamic handson environment and possess exceptional leadership communication and organizational skills. With a minimum of five years of experience in forestry or orchard operations you have a deep understanding of the technical aspects of tree seed production and a commitment to continuous improvement. You are a strong team player with a positive attitude and a proactive approach to problemsolving. You embrace innovation and are eager to contribute creative ideas to enhance company operations and procedures.< / p>

              Your Qualifications : < / strong>< / p>

              • Bachelors degree in Forestry Horticulture Botany or a related field.< / li>
              • 5 years of experience in forestry operations with a focus on Southern pines.< / li>
              • Proven ability to lead and motivate a team.< / li>
              • Strong understanding of tree establishment maintenance and management practices.< / li>
              • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and other relevant software.< / li>
              • Ability to obtain and maintain a Georgia Commercial Pesticide License and other state pesticide applicator licenses as required.< / li>
              • Excellent leadership communication interpersonal and organizational skills.< / li>
              • A strong commitment to safety and environmental stewardship.< / li>
              • Experience operating and maintaining equipment including tractors forklifts aerial boomlifts UTVs chainsaws and power tools.< / li>< / ul>
