About the Position:
VRE is the Place to Be! The Virginia Railway Express (VRE) has an exciting opportunity in its Rail Operations Department. If you think trains are cool, have a passion for customer service, and a keen attention to detail, the position of Passenger Support/Communications Specialist may just be for you! The position is based in Alexandria, Virginia.
The Passenger Support/Communications Specialist provides excellent and prompt passenger support service in a variety of areas, communicates service disruption information to public as needed across a variety of platforms and mediums, collects and communicates operational data (e.g., ridership, on-time performance, parking and bicycle data, etc.), and performs general administrative tasks and responsibilities for the division of Rail Operations. Additionally, after successful completion of required training, monitors train service via TRIP and CSX/NS screens and communicates and coordinates with host railroads, VRE and contractor staff, and the public—as well as performs full-systems check prior to a.m. and p.m. service.
Required and Preferred Experience & Education
For consideration, applicants must possess:
- Demonstrated success performing job duties and responsibilities directly related to those of position
- Experience effectively using technology, systems, and tools to include Microsoft Office and Outlook, website platforms, and social media platforms
- Demonstrated ability to monitor and rapidly analyze technical data in real time to effectively communicate critical information to multiple stakeholder and customers
- Demonstrated success performing exceptional customer service and performing office administrative job duties
- Experience effectively presenting information both orally and in writing
Ideally, applicants will also have bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in business, communications, or related discipline, public sector/transportation/rail experience, and knowledge of federal, state, and local transportation laws, regulations, guidelines, and practices.
Compensation & Benefits
This is a full-time position offering a competitive salary and outstanding benefits. Compensation starting from $67,828.94 dependent on the experience & credentials of the successful candidate.
