What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Construction Engineer position at Prudent Engineering?

What you'll be able to do:
As an Assistant Construction Engineer, you will support the project management team in overseeing pre-construction and construction operations, and work closely with architects, engineers, construction managers, contractors, and other team members to ensure that each phase of the project progresses smoothly.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the documentation, coordination, and execution of construction projects.
- Review technical drawings and specifications to ensure accuracy and coordination.
- Monitor and track project engineering metrics and report any issues or delays to the project manager including but not limited to RFI response times, change orders, certificates of insurance, rebates and CM monthly reports.
- Assist with change order tracking, payment application review, LEED documentation, labor rate sheet review/ tracking, Freedom of Information Act (FOIL) documentation and memos.
- Assist in budgeting, cost tracking, and procurement processes.
- Provide technical support to the team as needed.
The minimum requirements we seek:
- Associate or bachelor's degree in engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Previous experience in construction or engineering (internships or entry-level roles acceptable).
- Strong understanding of construction processes.
- Proficient in construction software (e.g., Bluebeam, Procore, MS Project) and MS Office Suite).
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Ability to work well in a team environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- A proactive attitude with a strong attention to detail.
- Willingness to travel to sites as necessary.
