What are the responsibilities and job description for the Bridge Inspection – Team Leader position at Prudent Engineering?
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Prudent Engineering is in need of a Team Leader to join our growing Bridge Inspection Team. This is a full-time position based in our Albany, Syracuse, or Rochester, New York offices.
What you'll be able to do:
- Lead and manage as an associate team leader.
- Plan and conduct bridge inspections, including hands-on inspection work.
- Inspect and document field conditions of bridges including element condition ratings, measurements, and photographs. Ensure proper documentation of deficiencies and recommendations for maintenance or repair.
- Ensure compliance with federal and state regulations (e.g., National Bridge Inspection Standards - NBIS).
- Communicate effectively with engineers, bridge owners and NYSDOT.
- Maintain accurate records of inspections and findings including detailed and organized field notes and sketches, and/or photographs as required to document bridge element conditions.
- Prioritize safety in all inspection activities; conduct field operations in a safe and responsible manner, consistent with OSHA requirements and in compliance with established Safety policies.
- Participate in required training related to the safe and efficient performance of job duties as a Team Leader.
The minimum qualifications we seek:
- Currently registered as a Professional Engineer (PE) in New York State or have the ability to transfer an out-of-state PE registration.
- At least three years of bridge experience in bridge inspection, design, or other bridge related work.
- Completed NHI Course - Safety Inspection of In-Service Bridges.
- Ability to work safely adjacent to traffic, traverse slopes and uneven terrain, work at heights, climb on ladders, work on scaffolding and on aerial lift equipment, in and around water, in confined spaces and under adverse weather conditions.
- Proficient with Windows based computer use, including MS Office and MS TEAMS applications to assist with report preparation and management of inspection data and records.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Valid New York driver's license and the ability to travel.
