Job Type: Full-time

Shift: Nights, 10-hour shifts, 4 days per week (Monday – Thursday) Shift Hours: 4:00 PM – 2:00 AM (Exact shift time to be finalized)

Job Overview: We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Grossing Specialist to join our medical laboratory team. The Grossing Specialist will play a critical role in the preparation and examination of anatomical pathology specimens, ensuring accurate processing and documentation in compliance with all regulatory standards.

Essential Duties:

• Gross anatomical pathology specimens with precision and attention to detail
• Operate and maintain tissue processors
• Dictate gross descriptions for each biopsy specimen into the Laboratory Information System (LIS)
• Follow and enforce safety procedures and standard operating protocols of medical laboratories
• Ensure compliance with all Federal and State regulations pertaining to grossing

Qualifications:

• Minimum of 1 year of grossing experience (preferred)
• Ability to work safely with hazardous chemicals
• Strong computer skills and familiarity with LIS software
• Knowledge of specimen handling from accessioning to final specimen storage
• Understanding of laboratory organization, operational procedures, quality control, and safety protocols
• Dependable, flexible, and able to adapt to changing priorities

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Computer proficiency and ability to learn new software quickly
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team
• Excellent hand-eye coordination
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
• Typing speed of 50 words per minute (preferred)
• Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology
• Experience with voice dictation softwear (a plus)

Education (Required): Completion of one of the following:

• Bachelor’s degree in Biology or Chemistry
• Successful completion of a NAACLS-accredited Histotechnology program
• Associate’s degree with a minimum of 24 semester hours in biology, chemistry, and/or medical laboratory technology

Pay: $25.00 - $32.00 per hour
