PRYER Aerospace is hiring an Experienced Buyer.   PRYER Aerospace is a leading provider of structural components, assemblies and kits to the aerospace industry. We specialize in the assembly and fabrication of complex sheet metal and machined components for commercial, corporate and military aircraft.

POSITION SUMMARY: Responsible for managing the purchase of raw materials, hardware, production supplies and services to support aerospace manufacturing. In addition this role fosters positive Vendor/Supplier relationships ensuring cost effectiveness in procurement and contributing to overall supply chain efficiency.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Orders production materials, hardware and production supplies to ERP/MRP or other organizational demand according to company guidelines.
• Obtains quotes, negotiates price and delivery terms and executes purchase orders.
• Coordinates changes to purchase orders as required based on internal or external requirements.
• Follows up on order placement for timely delivery of goods and services to ensure supplier meets deliverables.
• Monitors and manages all assigned purchase order deliveries and maintains latest supplier commitments within the ERP system.
• Effectively manages the dat-to-day activities with the supplier including deliveries, cost and quality issues.
• Works closely with suppliers to mitigate risks.  Notifies management of issues which might adversely affect delivery, quality or cost.
• Monitors and manages supplier lead times and ensures they are maintained in ERP.
• Supports the identification and development of new suppliers to reduce cost, improve cycle time and/or enhance overall service.

EDUCATION: High School diploma or equivalent. Bachelors degree preferred.

EXPERIENCE:

• 3 years experience related to purchasing/procurement in a manufacturing environment, preferably in an aerospace machine shop
• Solid knowledge base of machining technology and purchasing fundamentals
• Previous experience with material requirements planning
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
• Excellent decision-making and negotiating skills
• Ability to accurately interpret detailed instructions
• Strong ability to problem solve and handle multiple tasks effectively
• Working knowledge and experience with MRP/ERP systems

COMPUTER SKILLS: Proficient in Microsoft Office
