Job Summary:
The Medical Assistant will be responsible for providing surgical, clinical and administrative support to ensure efficient operation of the surgical clinic. They support physicians and patients through a variety of tasks related to patient care management, organization, and communication. The target is to complete all activities accurately, with high quality and in a timely manner. This is a full time position that requires flexibility to work a varied work schedule Monday through Friday, 30-40 hours per week, and availability into the evening occasionally (6:30PM).
Qualifications and Skills:
- Proven working experience as a Medical Assistant; national certification preferred.
- Knowledge of basic medical terminology
- Must be able to exercise sound clinical judgement while working independently.
- Must be task oriented and able to pivot as changing priorities demand.
- Friendly, polite, and professional
- Proficient with an EMR system (Electronic Medical Records)- Nextech preferred
- Social perceptiveness and service oriented
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong clinical skills to assist with surgical procedures
- Sterilization
- Proficiency in MS Office and patient management software (Nextech preferred)
- Stable work history
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Medical Assistant will act as both an administrator and healthcare professional, performing clinical duties and managing administrative tasks in medical office, procedure rooms, and surgery facility
- Clinical duties will include but are not limited to patient intake, triaging patients, EMR chart documentation, medication knowledge
- Cleaning Surgical suite between cases
- Sterilize equipment, packing equipment, decontamination, case / cart preparation, opening sterile supplies
- Providing support to surgical team before, during, and after surgery- surgical retraction of tissue under direction of the surgeon.
- Maintain department logs
- Administrative tasks may include: greeting patients and answering telephones, receiving and faxing orders, scanning, email communication, and vendor knowledge
- Apply the principles, methods, and techniques of medicine to provide comprehensive treatment in plastic, reconstructive, cosmetics and hand surgery patients
- Work closely with the physician, patient care coordinators, and surgical team to ensure delivery of services and quality patient care
- The Medical Assistant adheres to the organization’s relevant policies, procedures, guidelines, and other regulatory and accreditation standards
- Train new employees as needed
- Perform other responsibilities as assigned
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour
Expected hours: 30 – 40 per week
