Team Overview and Job Responsibilities
The Controls Engineer will be an employee of the Automation group supporting the manufacturing of optical fiber. This individual will provide technical support in the area of PC and PLC based controls and automation for improvement projects and production support. To be successful in this role, the Controls Automation Engineer must be an excellent communicator possessing strong attention to detail as well as focused on quality. The controls engineer will have the ability to contribute to the team’s culture of continuous process changes / improvements as well as comply with all applicable safety procedures and ISO 45001 / ISO 14001 HSE guidelines.
Principle Functional Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain PLC programs utilized by production and facilities to control manufacturing processes and support equipment.
- Provide controls and automation support for the manufacturing of optical fiber, including off-hours support on a rotating basis.
- Work with the technical staff to resolve daily production issues.
- Support the commissioning of new equipment for production.
- Ensure proper backups of all programs and critical support files are maintained per plant standards.
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor or a member of management.
