Position Description:
- Individual will be an employee of the Fiber Plant Maintenance department. The person shall provide support to all areas of the fiber facility
- Act as a first responder to maintenance breakdown situations involving electrical, mechanical or PC/PLC malfunctions
- Act as a Medical first responder in the Fiber plant
- Complete Preventative and corrective maintenance tasks in a timely manner
- Complete work orders and issue parts via SAP CMMS system
- Compliant with all requirements in 40 CFR 261-265 concerning hazardous wastes including but not limited to labeling, storage and transportation of hazardous wastes from production areas to Waste Storage Pad
- Work with the technical staff to resolve daily production issues
- Ensure all product meets requirements as defined by the Plant’s Quality Management Systems
- Comply with all applicable safety procedures and ISO14001 EMS guidelines
- Maintain exceptional housekeeping in maintenance support areas
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor or a member of management
Qualifications:
- Relevant technical degree or equivalent experience
- Ability to work a 12-hour shift (Night or Day (may or may not train on days but will go to nights eventually)), climb ladders, enter confined spaces, work at heights, lift up to 75 pounds and be on their feet for the entire shift
- Must complete OJT for specific job classification, as required, in a timely manner
- Ability to read and understand Electrical and Mechanical schematics to aid in equipment troubleshooting
- Experience in electrical and mechanical troubleshooting
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associate's degree in engineering or technology
- Licensed Industrial Tradesman
- NCDOL Journeyman Apprentice – Trade Skills Program
- Experience in fiber optic manufacturing
- Experience with Servo control drives and motors
- Familiar with PLC logic and basic troubleshooting
- Experience with pump, chiller and cooling tower maintenance
