What are the responsibilities and job description for the Field Service and Innovation Director - North America position at Prysmian Group?
- Develop and implement the annual strategic plan in alignment with business units to promote and introduce new products and solutions to the market.
- Monitor market trends and customer needs to identify and promote innovative solutions, enabling enhancements and innovation.
- Coordinate field service activities to maximize resources and build connections with Prysmian customers, aiming to expand market share.
- Promote regular product review meetings with customers to showcase Prysmian products and services, fostering medium and long-term relationships and demonstrating industry leadership in innovation.
- Develop the annual marketing plan in collaboration with Marketing and business teams to consistently upgrade and update datasheets, catalogues, and media technical documentation, reflecting industry best practices.
- Review designs for quotes/contracts to determine the best production allocation of products, considering plant capabilities and approvals.
- Coordinate and lead in-depth testing and inspection plans with plants to ensure compliance with applicable standards and customer specifications, delivering reliable products and improving customer experience by reducing product failure return rates.
- Create customized protocols and testing programs based on customer needs and requirements, if necessary.
- Promote and expand customer approvals across Prysmian plants.
- Attend and coordinate team attendance at factory acceptance tests with customers or third parties when required.
- Benchmark and monitor competitor products and services in the market and industry.
- Foster a sense of community among team members across various business units by coordinating group activities, sharing best practices, understanding project activities, and offering broader personal and career development opportunities.
- Conduct and lead meetings with customers to review technical data and product performance.
- Provide product and installation best practice recommendations to business teams and customers.
- Organize and participate in trade shows as needed.
- Participate and lead working groups in Standards Committees and Industry Associations such as ICEA, IEC, Cigree, NEMA, and others.
- Host interdepartmental meetings and workshops with Sales, Engineering, Production, and Installation teams to refine scope and develop concepts into desirable solutions.
- Develop and author technical papers and formal responses to customer inquiries.
- Organize and conduct engineering seminars for customers to enhance their understanding of our products and services.
Required Qualifications:
- Engineering Bachelor’s Degree
- 10 years of experience in Research & Development, field service, innovation, or related roles
- Ability and willingness to travel, with 40-60% travel required at certain time periods
- Previous experience in leading field service, innovation, or product development teams
- Exceptional customer-facing skills, communication and stakeholder management skills
- Demonstrated ability to align R&D efforts with overall business strategy and objectives
- Master’s degree in a relevant scientific or technical field
- Strong foundation in R&D processes and innovation management
- Experience managing R&D budgets, timelines and resources
- Proficiency in R&D methodologies (design thinking, agile, lean innovation)
- Familiarity with relevant industry regulations and standards
- Strong presentation skills for communicating progress, findings, and recommendations to senior leadership
- Demonstrated ability to drive a culture of innovation within the organization

- Deep knowledge of product development life cycles
- Ability to collaborate with internal teams and external partners
- Demonstrated proficiency in diagnosing and resolving complex technical issues
- Works out of a normal office environment with standard office equipment available.
