Position Description
To plan, organize and direct the assigned process of Draw to achieve monthly Safety, Yield, Volume, and Efficiency targets for the unit and plant overall. Manage operating cost, quality and service and satisfy customer requirements, both internal and external. Responsible for all aspects of safety connected with the process and ensure people are performing their roles in accordance with company policy and regulations.
Responsibilities include
- Follow all applicable safety procedures and ISO14001 EMS guidelines.
- Lead as a safety and PPE ambassador and by example for all staff.
- May handle hazardous materials/waste in accordance with environmental/safety system.
- Implement and maintain Quality practices/procedures in the Process Unit to meet Prysmian standards and to comply with the requirements of ISO 9000/ISO 14000.
- Ensure all product meets requirements as defined by the Plant’s Quality Management Systems.
- Coordinate corrective activities (i.e. OCAP’s) with safety, quality, engineering and maintenance as needed.
- Regular participation in team assignments, including all continuous improvement efforts. Strive to create an environment of continuous waste reduction.
- Identify, motivate, train, schedule and retain qualified employees and team leads to meet production needs, especially in critical areas such as dies and 6th floor.

Drive the Prysmian continuous improvement culture which includes:
- Supporting all Tier Communication processes, lead Tier 1 meetings, encourage operators to take accountability for production goals and report production data.
- Help conduct 5-Why root causes analysis and problem solving and decide corrective actions.
- Utilizing Right the First-Time boards to capture initiative-taking line specific corrective actions and support preventative maintenance and ongoing 6S activities and housekeeping activities.
- Motivate, encourage, and coach operators and team leads.
- Complete detailed shift reports including Leader Standard Work (LSW).
- Develop and update skills matrix and help develop and implement shift training plans.
- Demonstrate ability to work cross functionally and in a manner that promotes positive relationships and strong collaboration.
- Work with management to plan and coordinate shift staffing and production activities with a goal of having a minimum of 30 Draw operators trained at any given time.
- Optimize reassignment of operators to different production areas based on dynamic requirements including job reprioritization, WIP management, and staffing changes.
- Plan, organize and direct the assigned process to ensure the optimum utilization of equipment, output target and maximize process efficiency.

Monitor and prepare reports including but not limited to:
- Safety performance of the area
- Yield metrics including daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly trending
- Monthly and Daily Production Plan and Actuals
- Hourly Employee Turnover
- Process Efficiency by machine, shift, and operator
- Promote annual gain share goals and lead supporting initiatives such as scrap reduction (material yield) and increased labor efficiency.
- Productivity and throughput due to the high quality required of the products in the marketplace and the volatility of customer demand – requires close cooperation and coordination among the team to assure success.
- Achieving/maintaining labor efficiency and materials standard costs.
- Support product development and evolution – requires constant attention to detail and constant monitoring of specifications and production processes.
- Achieve efficient utilization of equipment and human resources considering variations in demand and evolution of products and processes – requires constant attention to detail and coordinated planning among team members.
- Identifying and reacting to factors which could lead to downtime or loss of productivity – requires constant review of production performance, volume flows, availability of qualified personnel, and production equipment calibration/performance.
Qualifications
- Bachelors in business administration or industrial management or engineering or equivalent degree.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in manufacturing environment
- Minimum 5 years management experience in a manufacturing environment encompassing production management, materials management, business systems, and quality control.
- Must be knowledgeable regarding SAP business systems, manufacturing process equipment, test, and inspection procedures, and MRP/MPS.
- Lean Manufacturing training including Kaizen and 6S, preferred
- Experience in ISO 9000/ISO 14000 certification and compliance, preferred
- Intermediate to advanced Excel training, preferred
