- Responsible for understanding and performing all tasks and responsibilities according to the specific Job Safety Practices (JSP) established for this job.
- Responsible for safety and housekeeping procedures and for maintaining a safe and clean work environment.
- Responsible for adhering to all General Cable Corporation health, safety, and environmental policies and regulations, including our hazardous waste handling if designated and trained to do so.
- Maintain a working knowledge of plant production equipment and processes including steam generators, air compressors, cooling towers, chillers, pumps, motors, motor controllers, logic controllers, and general equipment.
- Maintain a working knowledge of plant production equipment and processes including copper rod breakdown, intermediate wire drawing, bunching, and cabling.
- Maintain a working knowledge of plant production equipment and processes including thermoplastic extrusion, thermo-set extrusion, twisting, and braiding.
- Maintain a working knowledge of plant production equipment and processes in order to analyze, troubleshoot, and make sound logical decisions and recommendations for repair and maintaining of such equipment and processes.
- Maintain a working knowledge of general equipment, systems, and processes involving electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and steam systems.
- Supply and maintain a set of hand tools required to perform and maintain the required duties as well as a working knowledge of such hand tools.
- Responsible for initiating actions to prevent the occurrence of product nonconformities as well as preventing the possibility of a future non-conformance.
- Perform machine specific preventative maintenance inspections at prescribed intervals.
- Work in cooperation with operators, supervisors, and schedulers to determine equipment priorities
- Responsible for safety and housekeeping procedures to provide a safe and clean work environment.
- Responsible for completion of work assigned, and to properly document all work that is performed, material used, and the length of time to repair.
- Responsible for adhering to all environmental, health, & safety policies and regulations including Lockout/Tagout, Machine Guarding, and Hand Tool Safety.
- Maintain active certification for driving a forklift.
- Responsible for managing used oil from machine processes. Associate is responsible for securing the proper container, labeling the container with a used oil sticker, and arranging for it to be picked up and recycled when the container is full.
- Have a basic working knowledge of shop equipment including, but not limited to Arc welder, TIG welder, MIG welder, oxy-acetylene cutting and welding, plasma cutter, lathes, saws, sanders, drills, hydraulic press, brake press, mills, grinders, shears, surface grinder, pipe threader, bearing puller, gear puller, bearing heater, multi-meter, calipers, mega ohm meter, oscilloscope, tachometer, and computer.
- Capable of operating a boom lift.
- Capable of working in elevated locations such as ceiling heights of approximately 35 feet or silo heights of 65 feet.
- Capable of working in tight spaces with minimal movement.
- Capable of bending, stooping, and reaching while pulling, tugging, and lifting heavy objects.
- Capable of researching and determining replacement or spare parts requirements and perform follow-up on ordered parts
- Excellent problem solving, analytical, and troubleshooting skills
- Strong verbal, listening, and judgment skills
- Excellent math, reading, and writing skills
- Capable of performing troubleshooting on PLC and logic controllers.
- Experienced in reading electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic diagrams and schematics.
- Prefer knowledge of Microsoft Office Excel & Word software.
- Knowledgeable of regulations regarding OSHA, EHS, ISO 9001, TS16949, NFPA, and NEC requirements
- High school or general education degree (GED); associate’s degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Must be capable of lifting and/or moving up to 50 lbs.
- Frequent walking ,standing, stooping, bending required
- Wear all Personal Protective Equipment required for job duties and required tasks
- May be required to sit or stand for long periods of time
- Frequent climbing on and off a powered industrial truck multiple times per shift to pick, verify, apply customer labels, or put away product.
- Frequent tasks involving walking, standing, squatting and bending are required.
- Work overtime hours as scheduled. Extra or extended shifts may be required daily or weekly.
