The R&D Lab Technician is responsible for conducting the mixing and testing of experimental polymeric compound formulation. This work is conducted under the direction of Polymer Engineers and industry/customer specifications and internal procedures.

The R&D Lab Technician is responsible for conducting the mixing and testing of experimental polymeric compound formulation. This work is conducted under the direction of Polymer Engineers and industry/customer specifications and internal procedures.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities
- Maintain a safe laboratory environment by complying with safety rules and procedures.
- Perform polymeric compound mixing and test sample preparation.
- Perform physical, chemical, and electrical property testing on compound samples.
- Perform physical, chemical, and electrical property testing on cable samples.
- Maintain records and issue reports on test results generated.
- Active participation in ITC Tech Service activities such as facility and equipment maintenance, housekeeping, safety audits, etc.
- Occasional manual lifting up to 50 pounds.
- Able to lift and carry by hand various tools, materials, containers usually small to moderate in size.
- Occasional use of manual material handling equipment such as dollies, carts and pallet jacks to push, pull, and/or move heavy loads short distances.
- Reports to the Manager of Technical Services
- The ability to effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing
- Experience in Quality Testing
- The ability to accurately scope out length and difficulty of tasks and projects; organize work into logical process steps; use time effectively; and establish priorities.
- The ability to work as an individual or as a team.
- Demonstrates sound technical skills and attention to detail.
- The ability to cross-train in all laboratory equipment and procedures.

- The ability to gather specific information to understand issues and use good problem-solving techniques.
- Capable of recording/taking electrical measurements, i.e., capacitance and dissipation, insulation resistance, using a multimeter
- Able to speak concisely and articulately; asks open-ended questions.
