What are the responsibilities and job description for the Operating Room Assistant/Orderly position at PS Recruiter?
Recruiting an individual to work in the operating room at a private practice plastic surgery operating room.
Job Resposibilities
- Prepares the surgery suites by gathering, organizing, and preparing surgical supplies and equipment for surgical procedures.
- Sterilizes surgical instruments in the autoclave.
- Cleans surgical area by removing waste and linen, washing down furniture, surgical lights, beds, stretchers, mattresses, walls, bair huggers, SCD machines, and mopping floors.
- Replaces furniture and equipment in designated location in preparation for the next case, including the return of stretchers, operating beds, IV poles, and monitors to the appropriate department.
- Removes and replaces sharp containers when full.
- Monitors inventory of all surgical supplies and equipment and notifies appropriate individuals when supplies are needed.
- Maintains inventory of surgical supplies, full oxygen tanks with carriers, blankets, cleaning supplies, IV pumps, and other supplies needed.
- Regularly stocks supplies, including scrub brushes, masks, face shields, cleaning solutions, and paper towels in sub sterile areas.
- Prepares germicidal solutions according to manufactures recommendation and MSDS protocol.
- Uses proper body mechanics/safety protocol while moving patients to and from operating beds and while holding for sterile preps.
- Transport lasers, equipment, and supplies to and from other units using extreme care to prevent damage.
- Rooms and prepares patient for upcoming surgery, including instructing patient on disrobing and placement of surgical gown.
- Records patient intraoperative information accurately and concisely on each patient’s medical chart.
