What are the responsibilities and job description for the Survey Crew Chief position at PS&S?
Position Summary
The Survey Crew Chief will provide lead direction to an assigned field survey crew; plans, assigns, directs, and reviews the daily activities of a field survey crew in conducting preliminary, location, construction, property, precise, topographic, or other engineering surveys. This position will be based in Nassau County at our Woodbury office.
- Perform assignments designed to develop professional plans requiring application of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria.
- Experienced operating Leica Total Stations and Carlson software.
- Responsible for daily operations of a survey crew.
- Experience with Leica field equipment, including robotic total stations, GPS, and P50 and RTC360 scanners.
- Perform construction staking and boundary set-up calculations.
- Data collection and GPS data processing experience.
- Experience with office software such as Microsoft Office and Adobe Standard.
- Comfortable moving data files in a network environment.
- Responsible for tracking survey vehicle maintenance.
- 5 years’ experience managing a survey crew.
- Experience on construction projects a plus.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Minimum high school diploma.
- Capable of performing survey calculations.
- Valid, clean NY driver's license.

The salary range for this position is $65,000 - $85,000. Actual base salary may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, time in role, peer and market data, and geographic location.
**This position may be subject to New York State prevailing wage laws as outlined in Articles 8 and 9 of the New York State Labor Law. The prevailing wage rates are determined by the New York State Department of Labor and can vary based on the location and type of work.
