The Director of R&D – Innovation & Development is responsible for spearheading the development of breakthrough products and technologies that drive market differentiation. This role focuses on identifying emerging trends, fostering a culture of innovation, and translating visionary concepts into viable products that meet future customer needs.
Innovation Strategy & Execution:
- Develop and execute a long-term innovation roadmap aligned with business objectives and market opportunities.
- Identify, evaluate, and integrate emerging technologies to drive product innovation.
New Product Development:
- Lead ideation, prototyping, and commercialization of cutting-edge products.
- Oversee feasibility studies, market research, and competitive analysis to inform strategic decisions.
Collaboration & Cross-Functional Leadership:
- Partner with the Director of Research – Product & Process Development to ensure that innovative concepts can be efficiently scaled and integrated with existing product lines.
- Build and nurture relationships with external partners, universities, and research institutions.
Team Leadership & Mentorship:
- Manage and inspire a dynamic team of researchers, scientists, and product developers.
- Cultivate a collaborative environment that encourages creativity, risk-taking, and continuous learning.
Stakeholder Engagement:
- Communicate innovation strategies and project progress to executive leadership.
- Secure buy-in and support from internal and external stakeholders for key projects.
Qualifications:
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Nutrition, Food Technology, or a related field; a Master’s or Ph.D. is strongly preferred.
Experience:
- A minimum of 10 years’ experience in R&D within the food manufacturing industry, with a proven track record of launching innovative food products.
- Experience working in a fast-paced, regulated food environment, understanding food safety and quality requirements.
Technical Expertise:
- Strong understanding of emerging food trends, ingredient innovations, and consumer health preferences.
- Familiarity with food safety standards (HACCP, GMP, FSMA) and quality control processes.
