Job Description
The Legal Associate, Americas role will report to the Corporate Counsel, Americas, and shall be responsible for supporting legal affairs in the Americas region.
Essential Functions:
- Drafting and reviewing all general agreements, with an emphasis on commercial contracts, including transportation services contracts, third party agreements, and vendor contracts.
- Advise business partners of contractual rights and obligations, provide interpretation of terms and conditions, ensure contractual commitments comply with applicable laws and actively manage and mitigate risks relating thereto.
- Support and coordinate various corporate governance and compliance matters.
- Support the management of external counsel, including litigation and collections matters.
- Manage corporate privacy program.
- Providing practical, timely, strategic, and high-quality legal advice and counsel on global privacy and data security-related matters.
- Advising on best practices and compliance with global privacy and data protection laws;
- Participate in regular internal communications and meetings with regional business leaders.
- Identifying and mitigating the legal risks across the region.
- Providing preventative legal guidance and risk training.
- Making legal recommendations and drafting formal legal responses.
Job Requirements
- Ability to work well in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, which involves handling many tasks simultaneously with minimal supervision and under time pressure.
- Build productive relationships with the broader legal staff and business executives.
- Strong written, verbal, organizational and interpersonal communication skills are required.
- A strong sense of ownership of tasks and responsibilities is essential.
- The ability to work and thrive in a team environment is also required.
- JD from an ABA accredited law school
- 4-6 years of corporate legal experience, including contract review.
- Experience with data privacy, including certification, such as IAPP.
- Position will have heavy involvement with LATAM portfolio; Spanish fluency is a must
- Transportation/logistics industry experience valued, but not required
