What are the responsibilities and job description for the Distribution supervisor position at PSEG?
- Oversee the activities of Relay Technicians (PSE&G and Contractor) to ensure safe and efficient application of relay settings and associated testing.
- Supervise the application and testing of relay and controls systems associated with the construction of outside plant distribution facilities, including feeder / tie reclosers.
- Responsibilities also include work scheduling, outage planning and contractor oversight. Work closely with System Protection to ensure proper application of Relay Test Orders and associated testing.
- Ensure post energization phasing is completed in a timely manner and results are reviewed by System Protection.
- Accept DP&C on call coverage obligations and support / assist Divisions in the emergency response and restoration for equipment failures and emergencies.
Job Specific Qualifications
Required :
- High school graduate or GED.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience working with protective relays and controls systems.
- Must have a valid U. S. driver’s license and maintain a satisfactory driving record.
- Must obtain an acceptable score on the First Line Supervisor's Test (FLST) unless presently directly and supervising ( responsible for performance review) operating department / represented associates for a minimum of 12 continuous months.
For those who have previously taken and received an acceptable score on the FLST but who are not presently and directly supervising represented associates, test results will be valid for a maximum period of two years from the date the test was taken.
Acceptable test results exceeding the two year period (for those applicants not presently and directly supervising represented associates) cannot be used in bidding on or applying for a first line supervisory position for which the test was validated.
Desired :
- Masters Degree in Engineering, Professional Engineer’s License and / or advanced power systems courses / training.
- Working knowledge of DWMS and other computer applications.
