Hybrid fixed are roles that are a blend of onsite work / in-person interactions with some ability to work remotely and require employees to live within a commutable distance and be onsite fixed days each week.

Hybrid flexible are roles that can be performed remotely but require some level of onsite work / in-person interactions on a regular basis, require employees to live within a commutable distance and, since business needs vary by position and may change over time, managers will set expectations and flexibility regarding where and when work is performed.

Fully remote are roles that can be performed remotely, require employees to live in approved states and will have purpose-driven in-person interactions on occasion.

Job Summary

Ensure compliance with Electric & Gas BPU initiatives. Review and update Business Continuity and Contingency Plans for Electric & Gas Operations to comply with Business Interruption Management requirements.  Review and update Emergency Preparedness policies, plans and procedures including but not limited to : Emergency Operations Plans (EOP), EOP Annexes, Logistics Plans and Emergency Response Plans. Provide Emergency Preparedness support to Electric and Gas operations. Support the Emergency Preparedness program.

Job Responsibilities

  • Assist with the development and implementation of plans, playbooks and other documentation to support  Electric / Gas Distribution.
  • Help manage Daily Operations and Utility Calls
  • Maintain the readiness of the Utility Emergency Operations Center (UEOC)
  • Lead the UEOC On-Call teams.
  • Support the Mutual Aid process for restoration.
  • Work with Electric / Gas Distribution, Transmission, and external agencies (NAMAG, FEMA, OEM, DHS, EEI, AGA, etc.) in coordinating efforts for large system emergencies including development and implementation of exercises, policies, plans and procedures with the Incident Command System (ICS).
  • Ensure compliance with BPU readiness related initiatives.
  • Prepare exercise lessons learned, finalize action items and track progress / completion.
  • Work with SMEs in the Utility and across the Enterprise to develop and implement annual readiness training and exercises across Electric Transmission and Distribution
  • Help manage the PSEG Business Continuity program for Electric / Gas Operations
  • Attend industry best practice meetings for PSE&G Electric / Gas Operations (NAMAG, FEMA, OEM, DHS, EEI, AGA etc.
  • Job Specific Qualifications

    BA / BS degree in Disaster Preparedness, Emergency Management, Homeland Security, Engineering or related discipline or 4 years relevant work experience

    7 years work experience

    Knowledge of emergency preparedness planning process and procedures

    Excellent communication and presentation skills

    Proven ability to establish and maintain effective team relationships across multiple organizations

    Must be willing and able to work all hours associated with storm restoration

    Desired :

    Experience in emergency management in some capacity, preferably within the electric utility industry.

    Knowledge / experience with Electric and / or Gas operations

    MBA, MPA or other Advanced Emergency Management courses

    Certified Emergency Manager (CEM / AEM) or equivalent

    Minimum Years of Experience

    7 years of experience

    Education

    Bachelor’s in Engineering or Emergency Management

    For all roles, PSEG’s drug and alcohol testing program includes pre-employment testing, testing for cause, and post-incident / accident testing. For employees in federally regulated roles (including positions covered by USDOT, PHMSA, or NRC regulations), this also includes random testing. Although numerous states throughout the country have legalized marijuana / cannabis products recreationally and / or medically, it is prohibited for employees in federally regulated roles. Employees who are hired or transfer into a federally regulated role are subject to drug and alcohol testing, inclusive of marijuana. Please note that the use of CBD products may result in a positive drug test for THC / Marijuana and such use is not a legitimate medical explanation for such a positive result.
