Job Summary
This position is a direct report to the Applications Support Manager and has sound knowledge of business processes in the specific areas of SAP technology enablement and support. This position is responsible for managing one or more SAP products to meet business outcomes, spanning multiple technologies including associated impact, cost and complexity. This includes developing, administering and executing preventive maintenance programs, overseeing problem management, performing root cause analysis and corrective action plans, providing vendor management and oversight, administering and reporting on vendor and client SLAs.
Please note this is a multi-level position in PSEG InformationTechnology department. The title and level assigned to the successful candidate will be determined by assessing skills, knowledge, related experience, scope and number of projects managed learned through the interview process.
Job Responsibilities
- Serves as domain specific subject matter expert for their assigned product line. Applying SAP technical and functional skills to resolve client issues and provide business solutions
- Responsible for vendor oversite and vendor solutions i.e. end to end accountability, including:
o Manages on-boarding and collaborative working relationship with selected Vendors.
o Ensures required change management activities take place as necessary.
o Ensures quality through the use of PSEG IT company-approved methodologies. Applies applicable concepts, practices, and procedures
- Manages product life-cycle based events and product regulatory requirements including:
o Monitors and executes IT SOX controls and work closely with internal and external auditors
o Coordinates and runs SAP Enterprise Releases and planned outages
This is a multi-level position and placement is dependent upon the skills, knowledge, experience and abilities of the candidate. For a Principal Product Consultant-SAP must have at least 6 years of related SAP support/development experience. For a Sr. Principal Product Consultant-SAP must have at least 8 years of related SAP support/development experience.
Job Specific Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline
- Minimum 6 years of experience in relevant field
- 3 years SAP support/development experience
- Demonstrated leadership capabilities through projects or other work planning experiences. .
- Understanding of and experience in IT project management methodologies, requirements management, quality assurance and IT processes.
- Requires broad knowledge of the business area's functions and applications, and of system and technology alternatives.
- Demonstrated experience managing outsourced vendors (on and off shore) within the information technology field.
- In-depth knowledge and experience in SAP production systems
- Extensive technical and functional experience in the development and support of SAP ECC system
- SAP Certification in one or more SAP systems and modules (HCM, MM, FI-CO, SD, PM, Fleet Management, and CLM)
- Root Cause Analysis (RCA) training in SAP
- Advanced degree in Information Systems or Masters of Business Administration.
- Extensive application development and coding experience in one or more technologies.
- Extensive experience in both application and infrastructure design, implementation and support.
- Project Management (PMP) or other professional certifications.
- Experience working with geographically dispersed teams of technical resources, consultants and vendors.
