Job Title: Training Lead
Reports To: Field Supervisor
Job Summary:
The Training Lead is responsible for directing the flow of traffic around construction zones, maintenance projects, accidents or other temporary traffic disruption areas requiring Advanced setup (Arrow Boards, Cross Track (TMA), and Changeable Message signs (LMA) while overseeing a team of Traffic Control Flaggers. The Flagger Training Lead is responsible for designing, delivering, and overseeing training programs for flaggers and traffic control teams to ensure compliance with safety regulations, proper flagging procedures, and effective traffic management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead, manage, and coordinate flagging crew activities to ensure traffic control plans are implemented effectively.
- Develop and update training materials, including manuals, presentations, and hands-on exercises, to align with current industry standards and regulations.
- Conduct classroom and on-site training sessions for new and existing employees, focusing on flagging techniques, traffic control setup, and safety protocols.
- Create and administer assessments to evaluate participants' understanding and competency.
- Observe and assess flagging crews in the field to ensure adherence to training, safety standards, and proper use of equipment.
- Identify areas for improvement and provide coaching to enhance individual and team performance.
- Act as a resource for flagging crews, supervisors, and project managers to address questions or challenges related to traffic control procedures.
- Mentor team members, fostering a culture of safety, professionalism, and continuous learning.
- Collaborate with supervisors and project managers to identify training needs and implement targeted programs.
- Maintain accurate records of crew activities, traffic incidents, and equipment usage. Report any safety violations, incidents, or equipment malfunctions to management promptly.
- Act as a primary Traffic Control Flagger or Crew Lead when needed, directing vehicle and pedestrian traffic safely around work zones.
- Adhere to all safety protocols, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
Education: High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Certifications:
- Certification of 4-hour ATSSA flagger certification course instructed by PSG.
- Instructor-level certification in traffic control or flagging. o First Aid and CPR certification (preferred).
Experience: Prior experience as a Traffic Control Flagger and Crew Lead required, with leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
